Oxycocet withdrawal symptoms

Oxycocet withdrawal symptoms

After being on 5/325 mgs of Oxycocet since last summer (worked my way up to 10  one day last week) I decided to take myself off them and reclaim my life such as it is (which really isn't that bad). I have gotten down to 2-3 per day and hope to get off them completely soon. I am having a real problem with the withdrawal symptoms being extreme sweating, chills, cough, depression, jittery, insomnia and the chest palpitations and general restlessness.
I can barely handle the sweats(I feel like a light switch most of the day..on off  on  off...you get the idea)but I can't handle the insomnia and the depression that goes with it. I try sleeping downstairs(couch),Main bedroom(hubby..boy I miss that!) and in second bedroom(Daughter has gone onto college this year)  anyway total exhaustion gives way after 3ish hours and  gravel/sleeping aids/oxy are taken. What can relieve these symptoms! I tell my hubby  if it wasn't for him I'd give up. The good thing is most of my pain in knees is gone.

Hi well you are in the right place. I know it is so uncomfortable to go through wds from that many oxy. But you tapered down and the sooner you stop the 3ish oxy the sooner your wds will be over.  Posting and reading posts helped me along with prayer and courage and determination.  I wanted my life back and I worked for it. You can too.  Get rid of your connection. Tell him you don't want anymore opiates of any sort. Plan on not sleeping through the night for several days. Maybe not at all for 2 days some do some don't. The first try I used ambien for a few days 3 or 4 and valium a very small script for 5mgs 3 times a day for 3 days. Then ct.  I did use after 2 weeks however and went right back into wds with no ambien or valium so went ct that time. I used heating elements for my clothing when I couldnt be in hot tub or steam. Drank lots of water. Exercised alittle more each day even though I was in pain. Vitimans. Some use the Thomas Recipe you can search for it with search box.  Post and read   Pray. Stay positive and help others here.

thanks for the feedback. Right now my head is sweating, rest of the body is cold. I'm very tired but can not sleep. jittery and always feel the need to urinate (so I'm always off to the bathroom). Truthfully I'd like to be coma induced for about a week or two(by that time I  figure most of the symptoms should be gone) if that makes any sense.
I have a 2o'clock appointment with my dr. Will be telling her I'm coming off the pills and what can she give me to combat the w/ds.

I have to agree with Calamity2.  The sooner you stop your 3ish a day habit the sooner you'll be done with the wd's.  Until then you're just prolonging things.  Set a day and stop.  You'll feel bad physically and mentally for a week or two and then you'll be through the wd's.  I can't really recommend anything to help with the depression part of the wd's.  The physical parts, insomnia diarrhea restless legs etc can be helped a little bit with otc medication but not much except for the diarrhea.  You just have to tough it out and know that the first four to six days or so are the bad ones and it's totally downhill after that.

Glad you are here you are in the right place.

You got a lot of good advise already. Here is my 2 cents. Get truthful with your doc and set the date to go CT ( cold turkey)  CT the fastest way to get to the other side where life is. Set up a block of days that you may be bed-ridden, get some diarreah (diarrhea) medicine, gatorade and protein powder to make shakes because they are really easy on the stomach. Then do it!!!!!!  This site is an amazing place for support and encouragement.  Read, post and understand that w/d's are a necessary evil to get clean but they are only temporary. It's pain then gain and finally FREEDOM BABY!!

If you pray, now is a great time to start sending them up. You prayers will turn from help to thanks soon!

We will be here for you.

Take care & God bless you,

Dafishman

Thanks for your encouragement..it means the world to me knowing there are ppl that understand and know what I am going through.  Told my Dr. today I was tapering off the Oxy  and was down to only 2 per day. Also told her about my symptoms. At first she said there was nothing for the sweats, then I told her what was mentioned in here regarding  the menopausal med I got the prescription. Another drug that you have to wean off dang! 6X 2x2  then 6X 2x1, 6X 1x1...working so far! She also did not want to issue sleeping pills to me as I have been on them for 2 months already ( 1 tab every 3rd day if needed) but when I told her of my depression and how I felt, she gave me 1 more month.

Tomorrow I will try not to take any oxy...wish me luck everyone

I too am preparing to take the plunge.. I've tried twice already but couldn't get through the symptoms.  Horrible!  It felt to me like a really bad flu!  I didn't realize sweating was a ws... now I know!  I was actually just in Africa and thought I had Malaria!  It's good to read all this.. gives me the courage to try again.. quit day - tomorrow (I have 2 left and before I blow any more money.. good time to stop!)  Thanks to and good luck to all of you - I'll be checking in.

My husband is going through withdrawl (withdrawal) and not sure what to do for him. He was in a car accident 4 years ago and had to have a plate and screws to repair his leg. When he was in hospital they had him on morphine,LARGE DOSES when he came home he was still on a lot pain medications. Our doctor kept him on oxycocet now for 4 years as his pain was large. As a result he is hooked on these pills. He went off them cold turkey two days a ago after a visit to our doctor. He totally blames her as he is having bad sweats, leg pain, throwing up, dirrea , depression and really bad mood swings.I have tried to be supportive but he pushes me away and doesnt want my help. I love him so much and feel so bad for him. Please help me understand him, as my heart is breaking. I was getting these pills and was giving them to him too i wished i never did.
