Oxycodone withdrawal

I have managed to wean myself down to 2.5 mg of Oxycodone per day spaced out over 3x per day.  Should I continue weaning down to lessen my symptoms of withdrawal or should I just quit because it's not going to make any difference anyway.  What can I expect in the way of withdrawal symptoms on that low of a dose?  I have been taking Oxycodone for about 3 months but, prior to that, was taking about 3 Lortabs per day x4 years.  Any advice would be appreciated.

I have been on Oxys for about a year now and yesterday was my first day off of them. I am quitting cold turkey so I'm finding it extremely hard right now. My withdrawal symptoms had me feeling like I had the flu yesterday and today I'm still achy all over and nauseous but not as bad   I took Tylenol with codeine to help alleviate these symptoms and taking hot baths as well. Just pray for me that I can overcome this and stay off the pills. They were beginning to control my life and that's not good. I'm a single mom of a 19 month old. She's my world and I want to get off the pills and stay clean for her. She's everything to me. I'm going to church tomorrow and have them pray over me. I won't tell them why I need it but God knows my heart.  He's the only one that can help me at this point. I've read some if the comments that have been posted on this site and I'm going to take some if the advice for myself in hopes that' it'll help with the withdrawal symptoms. Thanks and good luck to everyone going through this as well. God bless

Stop- you are down to almost nothing already! Good job so far- you will probably still have some W/D as you have had meds in your system for a long time, but you have probably made it where it will be much less painful...

Okay, after weaning I am down to less than 1 mg per day.  Should I keep weaning or should I stop completely?  Will I experience any withdrawals?  I am leaving on vacation next week and want this over with.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Honestly, I tapered quickly. I went from 10 norco/day to 3 in just over 2 weeks. And then I stopped. So like I said, I've been withdrawing for a month now. When I stopped the 3/day, I felt mostly a lot of anxiety, body temp fluctuations, insomnia and moodiness and headaches. I never got the tummy issues. Since you aren't taking a tremendous amount, and haven't been taking it a long time, it may be not as difficult as you think.

Hey, if you really tapered down the W/D this time shouldn't be that bad. I was honest with my doc he gave me 10mg of Diazhpam really helped. But nothing for sleep try and get some clondine for sleep.  Soak in long hot baths, yea first 2 -4 days suck but it does get better.  My Doc started me on anti-dep and really helped alot. After a week is when the mental demons and depression will kick in..You have to be strong to fight it..

Good Luck and Keep posting  I'm 74 days clean of Oxy's and Somas  If I can do it so can you!

I think I would rather live with feeling a little crappy for a few weeks than being absolutely miserable for several days.  I am so ready to quit.  I am so tired of worrying about it, wondering if I have enough to get me through, lying to get it.  I just want to be like everyone else and I know I will be happier without it.  It's just not the same as when I got that original high so many years ago.  So what was your taper schedule like.  What withdrawal symptoms do you ultimately have?

I tapered down too and still had wd. I probably would have been worse had I not tapered, but I also tapered too quickly and basically felt like I was in wd the whole time I was tapering. It sounds like you are ready to quit...I have a feeling you will go through some wd, but not terribly. And if you do, can you be ok with not feeling great for a few weeks to get off of this stuff and get your life back?

Thanks for your reply.  I guess I was hoping that if my body got used to being on so little it would make a big difference when I finally stopped.  Ya know, I did this once before and swore I would never go through this withdrawal thing again and lo and behold I'm right back where I started.  I really want to stop taking them; I feel guilty everytime I take one but am so afraid of the pain of withdrawal.  The last time was so bad.  I don't think I felt good for about 2 weeks and the sleepless nights and anxiety were AWFUL!  I had everything else too, the sneezing, runny nose, body aches, diarrhea.  You name it; I had it.  I can feel some withdrawal everytime I cut down the dose (which is about 0.625 mg every week) so I was hopeful that by the time I got down to such a low dose it would be no big deal.

OK, well I am NO doctor.  All I can tell you is what I went through.  I was on pain meds for over 14 years (mostly on) but not all the time.  All different kinds.  I assume the fact that when I went cold turkey, I had been on meds for a good 3 years straight.  Went from a 3 a day 10mg. lorcet to about 10-12 a day at the most.  But I think in my case, the fact I had been taking them for soo long, my wd's were pretty horrible.  Lasted about 9 or 10 days, not all awful,  got better as time went on.  But the first 5 were miserable.  And I tapered with them as well.  went from about 10 to 8 down to 4 then the 1/2 last one.  And the next day I was miserable.  Flu symptoms, I didnt ever have a fever, but my whole body ached, had the shakes, hot/cold flashes, jumpy legs and feet, no sleep, headache, rose running, just a blah mental attitude for over a week.
But, after 9 days, things were soo much better.  For me, my mental state was the last to get better.  115 days now without pills, and I feel "normal" again.  I guess I wanted that feeling back.  Not being addicted to anything at all.
I was an early alcoholic, pot user, went on to pills, cocaine, acid, youi name it, I tried it.  Everything else was not much of a problems, but the pills really had a hold on my whole thinking.  I love being in control of my own emotions without pill use.  That is what is the best part to me of being off pills.  I never tried oxycodone, but I assume it is very similar to hyrdrocodone?  I just wanted you to know what I went through, because you have taken them regularly for four years.  Not to say this is what you will feel, just not to be too surprised if your withdrawal is a big longer???  Please don't let this sway you in getting off these = it is SO worth it.  Keep posting, we all care about everyone here...
