Oxycontin Addiction

My friend Jason and I have been snorting oxycontin daily since around April of 2007 untill curentlly.  We don't hurt until around 6 p.m. or so because that's the time we usually do our pills.  I don't have to have a pill to get out of bed, but I do have to have one by about 6 p.m. to avoid withdraws.  At our highest amount we were using 160 mgs a day.  I would do around 60mgs and he would do about 100mgs.  We did that for a while until we decided to get off the oxys.  Our plan was to just slowly cut down the milligrams.  We lowered the milligram amount to 120mgs a day.  He would do 80mgs and I would do 40mgs.  We used that amount at first to keep us from hurting.  When we started to get a high off of that amount we were supposed to lower that mg amount again.  It took us a while to lower our mg amount from 120mgs to 80mgs.  Yesterday 10/17 we finally lowered to 80 mgs.  He did about 55mgs and I did about 25mgs.  Our plan is to continue doing 80mgs a day until we get a high off of that amount of mgs.  Once we get a high off that amount we are either going to lower the milligram amount again or buy suboxin.

Which should we do?  If we choose to lower the amount of oxycontin again what milligram should we lower to?  If we choose to buy suboxin what milligram and how many should we get?  How many should I take and how many should he take?  Just toughing it out and going through withdraws is not an option because we cannot miss work.

Hurry and respond!  I'm so tired of being addicted.  I'm only 18 and I refuse to live this way for the rest of my life.  Finally lowering the milligram amount to 80mgs has given me so much hope that we will get off and that we can do this.  It's so expensive to.  We have to pay a dollar a milligram.  $80 for 80 milligrams and it sucks!  Please help!

So hopefully Sunday 10/21 we will do 60mgs.  Me 20mgs; him 40mgs.  Possibly do that until Wednesday 10/24 and then go to 40mgs.  Me 13mgs about; him 26mgs about.  Hopefully we can do it quickly.  Or is that to quickly?  Do you think we will have withdraws doing it like that?

I have so much more motivation now because we FINALLY went from 120mgs to 80 mgs!  We were doing 120mgs for probably about 3 months.

One thing we have noticed about lowering the milligrams is that we feal worse earlier in the day.  So instead of me hurting for a pill at 6 or 7 p.m., I start hurting at about 3 or 4 p.m.  Not bad withdraws or anything, but I just don't feal normal.  Just a little hurt;  I guess I'm just jonesin.

I read on another forum or whatever there called about some recipe that's supposed to help withdraws.  Mabey Thomas's Recipe?  I also read about another one, but I'm not sure of the name.  If anyone knows anything that helps the withdraws or any recipes, please let me know.

Thanks for all the help!

Well I would lower it in 2 days.. and I would lower it to 20mgs then a few days later 15mgs and go down by 5 mgs every 4-5 days...

Same for him go down 5mgs every 4-5 days.. when you get down to just 5mgs I would just go cold turkey from there.. not really a point in going any smaller with oxy

Hmmm Stuck like chuck.  It's the same story all around.  It's funny that I'm hurring like you said but there is no easy solution.  It's time to do a little work.  Do the research by using the search engine here.  The light get off drugs are things like ativan and clonodine. and the stronger stuff is the suboxone/subutex which is what I had to do.... you might consider formal detox but they will just give you suboxone and send you on your way.... you can do that without and if you are in the LA area, PM me and I'll give you a great doc that is also in the "program himself"

What I meant by high was:  I was starting to feal the oxy.  It was more than enough to keep us from getting sick.  That's why we lowered it.

Yesterday when we only got an 80 (for me that was about 25mgs) I wasn't hurting, but it was still somewhat uncomfortable.  Today I did the same and I feal "normal".  Not hurting, but not fealing the oxy either, which I guess is a good thing.

When should we lower the amount of milligrams again?  How many milligrams should he lower to?  and myself?

I agree with fladdict, don't buy suboxone.  I'm on it now and it's been a godsend but since you seem able to taper on your own and it doesn't sound like you've been using long enough to cause any changes to your brain, then you don't need suboxone.  Plus, you have to taper off suboxone too.  Stop snorting, keep tapering and you'll be fine.  But remember this when in the future you think you can just do oxy's once in a while.

First off don't buy suboxone on the street.. its a very strong med that has to be used a specific way. not a good idea.you don't know what you are buying for sure and it should be set up by a doctor. Also with the tapering.. you have to stop snorting it.. that does not help the body adjust to the lower dose.. you are still spiking the dose by snorting it.. and waiting until you get high is not really how a taper is supposed to work.. tapering is just allowing your body to adjust to the lower dose so that you don't get sick, not high, its gonna be mildly uncomfortable. you should be dropping a few milligrams every couple days..
