Oxycontin addiction

Hi, I was wondering if maybe someone here can help me. My boyfriend has an addiction to Ocycontin. He has been snorting 2 80 mg pills a day for about 2 months now. He is finally accepted that he has a problem & is ready to stop. Can anyone give me advise as far as withdrawal? Can it be dangerous? He is in good health other than high cholesterol. Also, maybe some advise for me as to what I can expect? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I broke my back in 11/2011. I didn't have surgery for 6 months (thank you HMOs) and lost control of my business. I was on Vicodon 10mg 3 x a day fat the beginning, had surgery. The surgery was too late to help my pain levels. I wound up trying to dump the vicodin, then ask I drove and worked constantly to rebuild my business, my pain worsened. I took Oxycontin (90mg) once a day and hated the feeling. Stopped taking it after 8 months, went back to hydrocodone. Kicked it all 6 months ago, then made the mistake of picking up the Oxycontin again.

I stopped taking it a week ago, physical symptoms of withdrawal aren't the problem. I am weak, can't concentrate, and am still trying to hold up a business and travel for it.

I'm going to lose everything if I can't get my concentration and energy back. I support myself and have no family around.

Not a clue, hopeless, Primary care physician is out of town.

Help

Thank you so much for your advise. He is not on any antidepressants...that would be me... I have anxiety/panic disorder. Funny how I have to take pills to be normal & he wants to take them to escape. I am sure he is going to make it through this as well as all of the rest of you on this site. We just need to be strong.

gigi,
welcome ,
The first week will be the worst . He will be nauseated ,have the runs , muscle aches , RLS, he probably wont be able to sleep either .
there are some things he can take to help Motrin for the aches ,some Imodium for the runs . If he is not on an antidepressant
he can take some l'tyrosine for energy,SAM E for depression. a good multivitamin . Lots of water ....He can make it threw ,It is just going to be very rough . he may want to look into something like NA for afterward  getting clean is the easy part staying clean is much harder.
good luck
