Oxycontin

I've been on oxycontin for about two years for pain. I've since had surgery and am coming off them now. I was doing 40mg 3 times a day.
My Doctor told me to cut down gradually. So i'm doing 30mg for a week then 20mg for a week 10mg etc.
I'm surprisingly still feeling a bit uncomfortable though.  My main complaints would be lack of sleeping soundly or for 7-8 hours straight. I seem to sleep for 2-3 hours then i'm wide awake.
Also I just feel like I can't fully relax.  Kinda like i'm constantly toe tapping, even though i'm not, to the point that my legs actually start to ache!!  Leg rubs would help.
Any way good luck everyone, be strong cause you can do it!!
Merry Christmas!!
Ross

Ya, my Doctor gave me Zopiclone to help me sleep. For the most part they do help,  with out leaving me groggy in the morning......but not always!! Sometimes I will still wake up after a couple of hours.  Usually I hit the couch and watch tv for a couple of hours, till I feel like I can sleep again.
Funny you mention the Thomas recipe.  I just read it about an hour ago.
Seems wierd but for the last couple of weeks I've almost been craving Bananas (Potasium). I also started taking good multi vitamins and power walking on our treadmill, followed by a good soak in the tub.
It just made me laugh when I read it because my body and mind seemed to direct me in the right direction before I read it.
It tells me there must be something to it.
I am definately starting to feel more energetic.
Of course for me my low energy level was also due to just having major surgery.  Apparently I lost a lot of blood, had to have a transfusion and am now on iron pills.
I have read a bunch of these forums and I strongly feel for all the addicts struggling to get off some huge doses of Oxy.
I strongly feel you have to get your brain wrapped around the idea that you are going to quit and can do it.
Doing something like the Thomas recipe will also help not only from the stuff your taking, but the fact that you have a "routine", of taking a pill, but it be a vitamin instead.
Be strong!!!

Sounds like you are experiencing a bit of w/d symptoms but can count yourself luck thats all it is.  There are some great tips for some of your complaints in the thomas recipe.  The anxiety feeling is normal and may last for several weeks after you have finished your taper.  some people also have problems getting back to a normal sleep pattern for a while.  Let your doctor know.  You can try the meltonin, but trazadone is a great medication that puts you out and you won't wake up all groggy.  may suggest that to your doctor.
