Oxycotin Withdrawl

by sonomacounty, Nov 04, 2009 10:49PM
Hi, I am 35 male who have been taking up to 160 mgs oxycotin a day and if I can't get oxy's I'd get 10 mg methadone..this has been going on since April I'd say I'd take Oxy's 3 days and then Methadone for the remaining 4 days of the week. I have been trying to taper down and have been succesful...My last Oxy was a 40 and it was Friday Morning. I took  4 perc 10's and 5 mg methadone..Saturday...Sunday I took 75 mg morphine... Monday 10 mg methadone....Tuesday Morning was the last dose of methadone I  took it was 5 mg....I haven't had the sweats to bad...however crazy cough all day....and wild dreams last night...slept about 7 hours.... I was wondering if coughing comes in the ladder part of withdrawl cause I never had it as a imediate symptom from withdrawl only aches in joints and sweats....still a little aches but not to bad.... I have some Vicodin 5/500 and was trying to get advice to take them or am I in the ladder part of withdrawl and leave them alone....Please help...

My advice about the vicodin would be to flush them. Most addicts lack willpower and if we have them we are going to try and justify a reason for taking them.Taking them now will only set you back.Methadone has a longer half life then other opiates but if your last dose was Tuesday morning, and you haven't been taking it that long,it most likely won't get too much worse. For some reason days 3 or 4 always seem to be the worst for most of us when we are w/ding though,so it might get a little worse on those days, but I would venture to guess that within 5 or 8 days you should start feeling like you have turned the corner. You can look up the thomas' recipe and amino acid protocol in the health pages, top right.Keep posting, lots of help and support here.Start working on getting some type of after care in place, like finding a meeting. The physical part is rough but the mental part is the real battle. All the best...Kim

Agree with kim...u may not be addicted to methaone//probably not..u r just plain addicted to narcotics//sounds as if u went back and forth btw a variety of narcs with small doses of methadone as well..methadone is just a narcotic and 10 mgs is not a huge dose of methadone...keeping narcotics in ur reach is a sure way to fail...let go...flu8sh those hydros...hydro is a much more popular drug of abuse than methadone..it hits quick and is gone quick causing a user to take more and more each day...flush em

sounds like u may not have a plan for this....a garbage bag full of different narcs is not a plan....if u had to choose a plan//what would it be?
