after several months of taking anywhere from 100-200 mg of hydrocodone per day, i was abruptly given no choice in coming off of lortab. i have had horrible pain in both my arms and legs for days to the point that all i have been able to do is to stay in bed. it's been so bad for me that death seemed to be easier than coming off all of this poison. it is a horrible feeling but i do notice that it is starting to get somewhat better as far as the aches and pains. this is day 7 and the pain seems to be worse in the night time. the vomiting and abdominal cramps have somewhat subsided and that has been somewhat of a relief. i am so exhausted and all i want is to sleep for more than an hour and a half at a time. i've gone through this before after coming off of heroin. the withdrawl symptoms seem to be very similar to me right now. i haven't had the hallucinations that i had coming off of heroin, however, everything else seems to be the same. i know that my brain chemistry will change eventually, the mental part is as bad as the physical pains at this point. keep going. it will get better.
How much are you taking a day? Do you take anything else? Giving us some more info will help.........sara
"Oxycontin" is the right spelling my friend though it doesn't really make a difference..What makes a difference is the amount and how long you have been taking them...Can you give everyone an idea of that? As that will give at least me a clue as to what to expect..Its no fun though. Don't believe that there is an easy way out because there isn't..How much and how often? Need to know that to tell you more...David
HI and welcome to the forum...im afraid there is know way to avoid the withdrawals with or without a dr....there are 2 schools of thought on coming off narcotics one is to taper down to a low dose then jump off the other is just jump off and get it over with both ways have advantages and disadvantages by tapering off slowly you spread the withdrawal over a longer period but you final withdrawal is not as sever by jumping off C/T you get it over with in about a weeks time its faster dosent require the discipline of tapering and you done alot faster...there are a few things you can do to lessen the effects of your withdrawal go to the top of the screen and look up the health pages..look up the Thomas recipe and the amino acid protacall this will help make you feel a bit better wile you go thew this...try not to let it frighten you it always worst in our minds then it actually is ...go into it with a win win attitude this is 1/3 physical and 2/3 mental so attitude is important also try and get comfortable with the saying
you just got to be ok without being ok for a wile the symptoms are only temporary
if you really want off bad you can do this we will support you best we can wile you do this so post often with how its going day by day hr by hr if necessary...this will be one of the best decisions of you life if you choose to do this good luck and God bless ...Gnarly
