PERCOCET (Oxycodne 5/325) TEC

by LiquidX, Jan 02, 2007 12:00AM
I am 19 years old and I was Diagnosed with Leukemia in January of 05 shorty after starting treatment my side effects was horrible knee pain due to the drug I take called Gleevec for my Leukemia.  Doctor pecribed me PERCOCET (Oxycodne  5/325) TEC 2 every 6 hours.  I see a lot of people get addicted to this drug so I was worried.  2 months ago I told the Doctor the pain was coming back and was not working as good he stuck me on morphine 15 mg that did nothing but give me head aches and stomach pain so he put me back on PERCOCET (Oxycodne  5/325) TEC but on the dose of 2 every 6 hours so thats 12 a day.  Doctor wanted to see if my pain went away if I stopped taking my Gleevec which it didn't, I was of the Percs and the Gleevec for a month and did not suffer withdraw symptoms.  I am now back on the percs 12 a day and possibly will have to be on this drug the rest of my life for pain I just feel bad that I am taking a drug because it does make me high, but I can not function in life with the pain and I am only 19 years old, I cant go up the stairs without the percs.

I don' t know why I posted this i'm very confused at the moment....

I would also like to know what this is doing to my body, I am taking 8-12 5/325 percs a day but I have to im just scared if the cancer doesnt kill me a failing organ will due to the percs... As I said I am 19 years old and there is no cure so unless there is a cure I will have to be on pain pills the rest of my life.  What would you say is a safe dose that would prolong my organs.

Dear Lig:

Many many many thousands upon thousands, some doc's. some attorney's some people who live on your street take pain-killers for legit reasons: PAIN. There is nothing wrong with that. They do serve purpose. I would speak to your Doc. and have him refer you to a pain Doc. The pain Doc. will probably place you on Oxy time release. A time release Oxy is good for 10-12 hours and has no other drug in it that might harm your liver. I am talking about Tylonal here; some Docs poopoo Tylonal and the liver. Well I have Hep C. At the Hep C clinic they steer away from Tylonal because it is very hard on the liver. Good luck. And hey don't feel bad about taking pain meds for pain and do not allow anybody to let you feel bad for taking them.

I am 18 yrs old and have a spinal stroke, which is a blood clot in my spinal cord.  Long story short i was in an accident where i was quarapaligic for 2 weeks and then 3 yrs later im walking with a cane, cant feel my toes, and  have severe back pain.  I am currently taking 40 mg of oxycontin every 12 hrs (basically twice a day), Percocet 5/325 six pills a day, valium 5mg 3 times a day, and muscle relaxers 30mg 4 times a day...just recently my pain has been increasing along with depression and insomnia, my doctor took me off the valium and put me on xanax 1mg b4 bed...that didnt work so just as off today i went back to the doc and now am takin 2mg of xanax a day in weird intervals, but he also replace the Percocet with 15 mg of morphine like yo had and i haven’t takin them yet but im goin to start them tomorrow...i know that this is an old forum but if you could tell me how things went for u during the last yr since the post and what treatment you ended up sticking with i would appreciate it.

If anyone has any knowledgeable solution to my problem i would really appreciate some advice.

Real quik wrap up im concerned on how much medication im taking at one and what it would do to me if the pain never went away and how long it would take to start breaking down my body?...also i have EXTREME insomnia and i blaintly don’t sleep at night or during the day at that even, only when my body ends up completely shutting down and i pass out, wich i dont think is very healthy...lol  i am talking to a therapist and i do physical tharapy but with all of this sleep deprivation plus the heavy medication i haven’t been successful in attending some off my sessions and appointment b/c i dont want to drive and risk danger, and both my parents work and sometimes arent able to take me.

So if theres any one with some sort of suggestion/solution it would be great.

Robert
