PERCOCET WITHDRAWL - PLEASE HELP

Hi

PLEASE HELP

I have been using percocet since Rotator Cuff surgery on 9/25. I am going thr ough terrible withdrawls and did not know till two days ago what the hell was going on.

SEVERE to the core Bone chill, anxiety, sleepnessness, horrific aches, severe gastro esophogus problems.... you know hte drill.

I was taking 6-8 percocet (the large ones) andhave weaned myself down to two and a half.

is the 10 percent reduction a week? every couple days?

Can I do anything to get the hell off these quicker?

Is there anything I can do to feel warm again?

Can I take anything to help me sleep at night and not make the addiction worse.

I really need some help and am thankful at having found this site.

Paul

I feel your pain. Been taking 5-6 percs a day for 2yrs. I decided to quit cold turkey 2 days agao, and I'm hurting. I read several sites and they all say to talk to the Doc. and reduce intake slowly. I have borrowed a few pills from a friend, as my doc. is off today, but I will bw seeing him tommorrow. The leg pains and stomach thing is the worst. Like you, I just want to get away from them (although it is scary) I do find walking helps a bit.

I don't know about you, but I've taken some of the OTC sleep pills, but I wouldn't recommend them. They left me miserable. I recall trying them a few nights promising to never ever use them again. It was like being behind a veil and knowing you want to be or go to sleep, but you just can't. I remembered turning to a few shots of alcohol, because I was so miserable. I've never had problems with Nyquil in the past, when I was sick, but never took it just to go to sleep. But if I ever need to do OTC again, that's what I will try. I hope those OTC sleep pills will work for you.

Jmile, tahnk you for the support.

I never, ever thought I would become addicted to a pain pill.

I spoke to my pharmacist frankly about the problem, she was helpful.

She indicated I am doing the right thing by slowly cutting down the amount of percocet I am taking. She also said that I can try taking a OTC antihistamine to help me sleep tonight. Otherwise she said I will have to tough it out. I feel like **** but thankfully I have stopped shivering uncontrollably.

I'm PISSED at my Dr as he has not called me back since I left him a message Fri morning. How arrogant!

I want my body back, and I'm thankful to have found this forum.

Thank you jmille23 for your kind reply. I will start drinking more water and taking a multi.

I finally got to sleep this morning at 7:30 and slept for an hour and a half. Not good.

Is valium something others have found helpful to sleep without adding to the problem? Any other ideas on the questions I posed above?

Thank you for the support - it is needed and greatly appreciated. This is horrible
