PLEASE HELP!! Hydrocodone withdrawls

I've been on hydrocodone 10/650 for appox 12yrs. Took my last one on Sunday around 11:00am. I have two reputured disc in my back and thats why I started taking them and they gave me Energy. I started out slow but ended up taking appox 4-6 per day. Can no longer get them so had no choice (and I'm tired of being a slave to them and I'm doing this on my own, FAMILY DOESN'T KNOW). The last three days I only took between 2 and 3 a day. Today is my 2nd day without. Surprising yesterday wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but today it's a little worse (no sleep in two days, NO Energy, etc). I was wondering COULD SOMEONE TELL ME IF IT'S GONNA GET WORSE OR START GETTING BETTER? I AM SCARED TO DEATH AND REFUSE TO EVER PUT MYSELF THROUGH THIS AGAIN.

Hey stonecold, calm down. I totally understand your fear...I've been on the same dose before and I have been able to come off of them. Yes, you will be sick. It' shard to say HOW sick because you did taper for a few days...I'm currently coming off of 5mg hydrocodone 3x a day, and saturday and sunday I only took 5mg each so I have no idea what to expect either...

But I wanted to let you know that you're not alone, and you can do this. Take a deep breath...and another...in through your nose, out through your mouth. From what I understand...it gets worse until day 3 after your last dose (not sure how it factors in if you taper, I'm wondering that myself) and then it gets significantly better from there.

I've been clean 48 hours and i'm nowhere near as sick as I thought I would be, but then again - I tapered pretty drastically over the weekend - maybe that helped? i dunno...

You weren't taking a super high dose, believe it or not, from whatI've read on this forum, so you will be sick, but it won't be undoable.

The best thing you can do is look up the THomas Recipe on the righthand side of the page if you scroll down - that stuff helps a LOT...hydrate as much as possible. I took nyquil for the first 2 nights and slept well, and last night I didn't take anything and slept great...but my dose was smaller than yours so idk how it will compare.

hang in there..you'll get some great support soon, I promise, the board gets slow sometimes. but you can definitely do this and you are NOT alone!

Welcome and Congrats and choosing to stop. Have to tell you days 3 and 4 are ususally the worst for withdrawals and then you start to feel better alittle bit at a time. But you have made it this far so keep going! On the top right of this page is Health pages and check out the Thomas Recipe it gives alot of good ideas for helping you through wd.You will probably need to hit up cvs/walgreens ect to pick up some of the vitamins until you can try some hot bath/showers for the body aches and chills. Motrin/advil/aleve also for body aches and as much fluids as you can drink like gatoraid propel ect.It will make a difference in keeping yourself hydrated.I did multi vits,B6 and aleve and hot tub and alot of water. Dont advicate it for everyone but I did a dose of nyquil right before bed to help me sleep. There are alot of natural suppliments for helping with sleep like melatonin. So check out the Thomas recipe and alot of members here will give you alot of good ideas, I honestly wouldnt of made it this far without their support and ideas.Sometimes just knowing you arent alone in this helps alot. Best wish and keep posting Heather

Thank you both very much for responding. It is nice to know I'm not alone in this fight. I too was thinking of picking up some Nyquil but didn't want to end up depending on that but I do need some sleep. I am so worried about tomorrow being my third day!
Ashelen, that's wonderful you're on day two. As of an hour ago, me too. I'm praying for you it won't be as bad as some others who were taking alot more than you and I. I've been taking Amodium and BC powders. I've went a day or two before without and knew I'd have a stomach isssue and RLS but I had No Idea (until I started reading online) it was going to be this bad. But the RLS wasn't as bad last night as the first. Good Luck and I'll keep posting..

Medicos, I do tell myself now that I'm doing this for myself to get healthy but more importantly for my daughter. She deserves the healthy vibrant mom she never got a chance to really know because right after she was born I was diagnoised with manic depression and then soon afterwards I was in a bad accident and hurt my back.

Thanks everyone for caring...

HI   well it sounds like you are doing pritty well so far.....withdrawals run in waves you will experience different symptoms on different days even different times of day just go with the flow
its your body/brains way of detoxing....just surrender to the idea that your not going to feel very well for the next few days and it will be over b/4 you know it....try your best to keep a positive attitude it makes all the difference this is 1/3 physical 2/3 mental .....be ready to fight on both fronts.....keep posting for support we all want to see you make it threw this good luck and God bless......Gnarly

Thank you everyone for being so supportive. I have a feeling you all will be my life line for awhile...
Took a BC about a half hr ago. I feel good, no pain. I just have the shakes, and I've been taking Imodium (immodium) for stomach.
I'm gonna see if my hubby will pick me up some Nyquil so maybe I can get some much needed sleep.

Oh yeah, I also take Adipex for weight loss. I've lost 70lbs since Sept.
But I wonder if that's why I'm not as fatigued its I thought I would be??
Still very scared about how day 3 (tomorrow) will be.

Day 4 today (around 11am). Had a rough night last night. I believe it was mostly due to lack of sleep (?). I took some Nyquil and finally fell asleep several hrs later.

Day 3 has by far been the worst for me. But I must must keep on trucking!

My biggest worry is wondering if I'll actually feel better (mentally and physically) once all this is out of my system. I can deal with the pain at this point but I have to be able to take care of my family, our home, etc.
Does anyone understand what I'm trying to say

I understand completely and that's part of my fear too......day 3 s*cked for me too, but like you I'll be starting day 4 around 11/12 EST....so I feel likeI'm finally starting to crawl out of the fire.

I wish I had an answer..I hope we both feel better....I don't know how anyone could stand feeling like this for weeks like some people do with tapers and some of the drugs that take weeks to withdraw from....it's scary.

hang in there, i'm right there with you!
