Pain and Cannabis

This may be the wrong place to ask this but.....

Has anyone used Cannabis for pain related to arthritis? Specifically Psoratic Arthritis.

I went off Oxy and Percs cold turkey but of course the pain is back. I am in Colorado and we have Medical Marijuana here. I am considering this as an option because I do not want to go back to pain killers. I discussed changing my meds with my rhumey but she still thinks my current enbrel metho combo is the best option.

Any thoughts/oppinions?

I just dont know about that....may relax him but then again sometimes weed has the opposite effect of paranoia.....not my cup of tea...if it is legal and his pain needs controlling...guess i would be open to try it since it is legal there...just do not know how much pain relief it would actually provide...then again he may not worry about the pain if it relaxes him....better than narcs i would suppose

We don't have medicinal mary jane where I'm at, but I do know that my husband takes an occasional toke to relieve his severe aches/pains/migrains...the same kind that pills were unable to achieve.  But do beware:  if you have an addictive personality...pot will be addictive for you too.  I dont' like pot at all...it makes me too hungry, and gives me a pot'hangover the next day (makes me mentally slow.)  The choice is yours.  My aunt has rheumatoid arthritis, and is currently disabled from it.  The docs said she was supposed to be working out, soaking, taking motrin, watching her weight...of coarse, she followed none of her Dr.'s ideas, and is now disabled.  You decide if you are doing everything on your part to rid yourself of pains, etc.  If you are...and you're still in a world of hurt...and aren't just looking for an excuse to escape mentally...then go for it.  You have come a long way (it sounds) with your sobriety...why cross-addict to something else.  There are so many natural remedies for a variety of symptoms in arthritis.  I am not a Dr., but I am in my last year of my Master's in Micro Biology...on my way to becomming a PA.  Anyway...you do what you feel is best for you...listen to your heart...ask your DOC!  Get well.  I have witnessed first hand the horrors of debilitating arthritis on my aunt in the '80's.  Heard all of the screams when the Dr. made house calls with big needles, and other sketchy treatments.  If you've tried it all, and want to stay off the pills...try some pot.  Take care of you. :)

I am looking at it from a medical only. Will it help the pain or just get me so high that I don't care?

it will help the pain, as well as stomach issues, muscle relaxing, etc.  it is not just to get high. google medical marijuana and see what you find. God made marijuana, man made pills , who do you trust?

I agree with newmanagement on that one...alcohol causes way more trouble than weed and it is lega...how many violent episodes do you hear about when people are smoking weed?   I never have...alcohol is a different story..I am not advocating the use of illegal substances...but i would choose pot over alcohol any day of the week...k know i will be in trouble for that comment but    oh well

I agree that the pot will help with the pain or at least help you relax or fall a sleep when your pain is flaring up

As long as you take one hit...then wait a bit...you shouldn't get "stoned," but you should feel relaxed a little bit (especially if you've never smoked before.)  Pot is a wierd drug.  Some people get a lilttle energy and focus (along with the pain relief,) while others (like me) get mentally cloudy, lethargic, and paranoid. I think that the answer for this question you are asking should come from you and your doc.  I wish I could tell you what's best for you...I wish you could tell me what's best for me...but this is a tough question:)  Feel free to IM me if you'd like to talk in private--or if  you decide you have any more medically related Q's that you think I can help with :)

It's not legal here! Infact..Michigan will throw you away and lock the key. But I have found through my many many years of pot smoking (quit about 6 mo) You get high...then hungry..then lazy. I didn't notice pain relief. A bit of paranoid **** too. But I am that way anyhow. I don't like crowds etc..But if I had to make that decision..I'd smoke a little instead of any pills!! My daughter lives in Oregon at a "growing farm". Funny how the same government that can throw away the key...can grow it where they choose. Drives me NUTS
