Pain doctor in 15 days

Pain doctor in 15 days

I go back to the PM doctor in 15 days. He's the one that put me on (4) 15 mg Oxycodone a day when i went to him about how to deal with out pills and a way to go non-narcotic. I must add that i did'nt put up a fight.

I think as much as i dont want to, that i have to tell him that this is to much...I mean these things are strong and i'm out of it all the time. I do a Perc just for a break from these things.

I am worried that if i say i need something lighter or ask for help tapering that he might freak out and cut me loose.

I would love for him to give me 7.5 for a month then 5 mgs for a month then Tramadol for a month.

Is this possible ?

I don't see why he'd have any problem giving you something lighter... unless he's nuts! Seems like he would want to help you taper. I don't know too much about PM docs though. I just have a crazy surgeon who likes to give me tons of norcos. I'm sure IF I wasn't quitting soon they'd probably send me to PM. I don't want that anyway..I need to be clean. but good luck and just talk to the doc. and hopefully he'll be understanding of your needs and what you want to do. doesn't sound unreasonable to me!

Pain Management Doctor = Legal Pill Pusher.  I stay as far away from those turds as I can........I hate them !!!!

I personally do not believe that anyone should be on Pain Meds......and I mean pain meds.....unless they are dying.

This is coming from one who suffers chronic pain, so don't give me any flack.

i think you have to be honest and tell him too. . i was on them for 3 weeks with a bad injury and like you i was out of it all the time. by the end of the 3 weeks i wanted more. why would he freak if you told him they were too much???

Most doctors have nothing to gain by putting u on pain meds...it does not benefit them to make u take a higher dose, in fact the FDA is so on top of MDs that most would love to lower your dose...i hear many say their doctor insisted they take tons of meds but find it a bit hard to believe...in ur case u did not argue and ur doctor would be fine with tapering...no doctor wants to make u an addict...most anyway...asking for help should not be a problem..if u want help...i am not sure what your goal is at this point coolio

I wouldnt see why he wouldnt give you something less harsh, Some people can take those things and some cant,

However Nauty,
I have problems to where if I dont take the meds I cant move. So I think that might be your opinion but it sounds a little negative to tell people that they should not take pain meds unless they are dying, thats a little much . Some people cant live without them.

Good luck to you Coolio, I hope they get you fixed and on a medicine that will help but be less harsh =)

What she meant was the stronger pain pills. Like Oxy's. Pain Management drs. are a little pill happy. I mean, people with ligitimate pain should get help if they need it. But most people who go to a pain management Dr. get the good stuff, lol...so I know what she means. Don't think she was being negative...

Just my opinion.

HEy Coolio...just tell him that the oxy's are a little too much on your stomach and that you need somehting, but something not as strong..

thats what I read and maybe I did take it wrong but it was a little out there when there are people who have to take pain meds.
Good Luck Coolio. He shouldnt have a problem changing it to something less harsh, one wouldnt think so anyway =)
