Pain meds just not settling in

Bear with me here,,I'm typing 9one handed...
Some of you know thaT I broke my arm last weekend and was at the tail end of my perc taper.  Well the doc gave me some vics for the pain,,, and I CAN NOT keepp them down!!  I gAve up yesterday... I can't get too dehdrated (I'm also preg)

My husband thinks it cause I talked myself out of wanting pills,, and now I'm trying tpo take them!

I'd rather jusst have the damn pain!!  Any suggestions?

you could ask the doc for phergan to take before the pills

what is that?  I can look it up,,, do you think I shoukld just not take the pills?
I haven't had any today and is issss really painful - but not as bad as I thought!  I'm gonna try to wait.

Also - do you think that I will have to REtaper? uug!  :)

Its a med for nausea. works really well. they also use it for chronic hiccups.

I would take half a pill and then something OTC that is safe for the baby. Its ironic that this happened to you. At the end of my first taper I was down to a half a pill and i broke 2 toes. i had to take pills to deal with the pain at work. Don't do what i did and go up to 6 a day. keep it to half or only wholes when you absolutely can't stand it.
how soon after you take the pills do you toss your cookies??
We will deal with retapering when the time comes.. don't worry just heal the arm.

I'm not sure ig it means anything, but when I was pregnant with my first child I went through having a kidney stone and the doc gave me some percs to take for the pain..(never had taken them before) and I could not hold them down either. I walked around the house literally holding a small waste basket cause I was throwing up sooo much. I might as well as camped out by the toilet for 2 days cause thats all I did. I gave up and just quite taking them cause they made me sick as a dog. Ok...now fastward 2 yrs, and after I had my second child, the doc gave me percs for the pain to take for when I got home. I meant to tell him not to give me percs cause I couldnt keep them down the last time but I forgot. So I thought I would at least try them and call him back if the same thing happened. It didn't!! I took them just fine with no sickness whatsoever. Go figure?? All I could come up with was that it must have been a pregnancy thing to where cause I was pregnant my body just couldnt handle them. I would definetly talk to your doc though and see what he says. Are you still in great amounts of pain?? I know my hubby ruptured alot of stuff in his ankle about a month ago and he is still in quite a bit of pain! Of course it doesnt help that he has been having to work on it everyday! lolo.. thx for the info... i looked it up and emailed my OB to get her inmput.

Someone said before that this was test... a sh***y test,,, but one none the less!  And I will NOIT use this as an excuse to re-start!  Craig and I talked about that for a long time last night.  He's really helping me thru this!

i tend to puke about 1/2 hr - 45 mins aftrer the pill... I think.  I've just taken ahalf cause my arm was pounding.

O - hey my ob just emailed and said to try taking half.  Maybe the whole onne is too muvch.  (gosh my typing sux!! lol)  oK, we'll see how it goes.

The pain is still raelly bad - but they said by next week the swelling should go down and they can put on a cast.  uuug!  But he did say I can have a purple cast! hee he

That is terrible...I broke my arm when i was about 29 yrs old...i was water sking and i quess i thought i could do what i did when i was 16..LOL Anyway it hurt like h e l l..The doc but the cast on too tight and had to go back in , reset it and put another on..i had a cast for 3 months..
being preg with that i can't even imagine...But i do think it has to do with the pregnancy..
your Ob should be able to help you..

I have broken my arm many times and one of my newphews has his in a cast it never really hurt that much........
my newphew doesnt even take a tylenol......

Was it a compound fracture?

As addicts we tend to embelish pain I'm not saying your are but do you really think Vics are needed?

When your trying to get clean and it is not easy sometimes you have to live with extra strength tylenol and a little pain for a couple of days....
If you arm is still hurting that bad after being in a cast I would return to the doctor.........

i forgot to say that when i broke my arm, i was not a addict...Actually the only time i had ever taking pain pills before this was when i gave birth...i do remember them giving me tylox when i broke my arm..it was a terrible break, it was not a fracture, it was broken through both bones right below my wrist...i can remember crying with pain even on the meds...After i think the first month the pain was gone because it was healing i guess, and never asked for more...now that i am an addict and that would have happened a yr ago i would of kept calling for more, that is what we addicts do!!

I don't have a compound fracture I have a Displaced fracture: A broken bone with the parts of the bone not aligned.  When I fell on the stairs, I landed on my arm on the edge of the stair so it hit in about a 3 inch place and cracked the bone but also kinda shattered the bone in that spot.  I had not heard about that before. I broke my collar bone when I was about 10,,, I hated the feeling of the bones rubbing against each other!  

There is a big SUPEr purple swollen spot, I guess where the bone in 'cerunched'. iiicck!  I have felt them moving,,, uug!,, but we are keeping strapped pretty tight.

I didn't thyrow up from the 1/2 vic this morning.  My ob said to try to eat at the same time.  That seemed to help.

beachT- I am a bit of a wuss when it comes to pain, it's true... but I can only take so muvh tylenol in a day and this is some of the worst pain that I have had! (including giving birth! at least that was a productive pain!!)  I don't have a cast yet.  Maybe next week.

I discovered that eating is very important when taking any narcotic.  back in '99 I had my knee reconstructed with bone graphs and hardware and they gave me percocets.  I took those for 2 days and did not eat and ended up in the ER with chest pains so bad from acid reflux that I thought I was having a heart attack.  Then several years after that I got brochitis and they gave me cough medicine with hydro in it and after 2 doses, I spent the night with my head in the toilet!!!  I was very scared to take anything after that but after the last few surgeries, I had to break down and start taking narcotics and I learned that if I ate, I wouldn't get sick.

You can also take a half a Unisom.  That helps with nausea and is avail OTC (obviously)  Dont know if the other is.  My OB (im also pregnant) had me taking that until the nausea got really bad from morning sickness.

My morning sickness -- which moved to later afternoon sickness coulc have been the  problem!  It's always something, huh?

Hey erbs - how far along are you? I read you previous posts,,, are you doing better?
Before I fell downand went boom - I was down to a quarter of a perc and wondering if it was still doing antything for me.... you tapering right?  Hang in there.

Hi, I just wanted to tell you that I am also pregnant and I was prescribed the drug Reglan for nausea. It has been a miracle drug and it is a class b, which is approved for pregnant women. It is fairly new, it has only been out for about 3 years and not everywhere knows a whole lot about it. Just look into it and see what you think.

I also have reglan.  That has been a life saver!!!  I lost 22 pounds the first 2 months of the pregnancy.  Not that Im complaining, that is as long as the baby is getting what it needs,.

Mommy:  I tapered off percocet and oxy's to tyl 3 and now Im on nothing.  The days have been great no problem.....last night STUNK!!  My restless legs kept me up all night!  I am 4 months pregnant.  Due March 5th.  How about you?
