Percocet withdrawl

Hello. I have been taking about 30 mg of percocet  a night for about 2 and a half months. Every now and then I would skip a night. Basically I take 4 7.5 pills between 4-10 pm. If I stop now, would it affect me? Should I taper off or just stop? Is 30 mg a lot or a little of it?

Hi there--  I think you should just stop. Tonight. Do you think you can do that?
You'll be glad you did because you like these things too much(I can relate)and you don't want to be taking these for the rest of your life. It will ruin it!!

I don't think you'll have serious wd's; maybe a little trouble getting to sleep...
There are some good, all natural OTC's you can pick up. Just get it done now...

I would just go cold turkey and don't plan a date plan it tomorrow the sooner the better because like I said the longer u take it the more your body is going to want it and then need it and that's what you do not want to let happen

Wow. You all are amazing. I'm humbled by your taking the time to respond to me. I really am. What scares me is I keep going back to tapering because then I feel like I have more time with them before I have to stop completely. Just being honest. But I guess that thought alone only reinforces why I need to stop. Would it be better of I just committed to a day to stop altogether as did it CT or should I cut back this week and stop.

I sooo agree with NE. Your dose is low and your duration  minimal. Stop this before it becomes a real problem. What a wise person you were to read up on this before it completely consumes you. Read some of these post. We don't think it will happen to us, but I promise you it will. You don't have to be an addict to be dependent. Even without addictive tendencies, one will quickly become dependent on these suckers. Then you just take the pills to feel well. No fun at all. Glad you posted! Much luck!

AGREED get rid of them and you should be fine because tapering is just staying on them longer than u need to. As others said u might feel a little bit of withdrawal but I can't imagine it would be very bad at all and to me being you haven't been on them long tapering is just gonna make it harder because at such a low does tapering is just putting you at a higger risk of becoming addicted because your mind is going to get more and more used to having the meds even tho you would be taking less. Just my opinion tho but I'm glad you are willing to come here and ask before you ended up going thru what many of us have to the point tapering is not even an option because we as addicts have no self control when it comes to that and if they are there we r gonna eat em up

Good Luck and Godspeed

You can escape it, definitely! You are making a good move just knowing that the issue will only escalate. I jumped ct at 100 mg. It was hard, but i was doing it for years. We all have different bodies and minds.

There may be some withdrawal time, but more manageable then most.  Make a plan... choose a date. If you are having withdrawals, post your symptoms here, there are many things you can do to make it tolerable. There are many of us here to support you.

Best to read up on the Thomas recipe if the traditional symptoms occur... you will do great. Keep us posted!

Wind...

My opinion may not be the popular but I would flush those suckers and be done. Based on the duration you used and amount I just don't see the need to taper.  You may have a few days that are uncomfortable but they will be manageable.  Check out the Thomas Recipe for some helpful tips on how to get through any w/d's you may have...
Stick around.... Post often and read, read, read.

You have an opportunity in front of you to be done with this. Don't put it off... I promise it won't end well.

Feel free to Msg me if you have any questions.

Sean. Thank you so much for sharing. I have been taking them and thinking nothing of it. And then for some reason late last week I decided to read up an I'm not sure why I did. Honestly it frightened me. I thought about the mental part, and being an ex smoker figured I could handle that. But then I read about the physical withdrawl and realized that if I keep going, over a longer period and taking more and more, that I might lose the choice of quitting I guess I'm naive but I didn't realize there could be physical withdrawl issues so quickly. I have enough right now to taper off quickly over the next week or so. Is that what I should do? Or should I just stop cold turkey. I do have the discipline to taper. I don't want to just stop right now if its going to cause me so much discomfort I go back to it to make it stop.

But I hear you about the crossroads. I don't Ben know how I got here. I do but I can't believe all of a sudden I'm having to read up on how to stop. Is my dose an duration low am short enough that I can escape this?

Windstorm.... Picture this.

You are at an intersection. To the left is your future and everything you want. An easier path, All you have to do is turn left. BUT.... To the right is a minefield. Depression. Heartache. wasted time.   Can you turn right and still get everything you want? you bet. Will it be horrible. ABSOLUTELY.  Let this be a blip on the radar. Turn left. Jump off now and begin the rest of your life.....

Not trying to sound dramatic but I was in your spot once...This hits home to me.,,, I turned the wrong damn way. Took the hard road.

Stick around here and read and post. It won't be nearly as bad as you think it will be.... THAT I can promise.. Jump off now.

All the best

I couldn't agree more which is why I realized I have to stop now. Curious though about something. Everything I read points to 30 mg a day being a very low dose in comparison to most. Is that true? And also that two Amd a half months is a short duration...,,,,,are both those things true and if so will that make getting off them easier than what I read people going through?

You might feel some withdrawal or flu like symptoms for  a couple of days, but is worth it not have this issue progress and become a full blown addiction.
If you are at 4 pills in 2 and a half months , think where you will be in a couple of years…..
