***Pharmacy Fraud or error????*****

So check this out.  I posted this same thread a few weeks ago.  I had mentioned that 3 times my prescription for vicodin was short one pill.  I just let it go, but it was nagging at me, so almost two weeks ago I go with my husband to the pharmacy to pick up my pills and out of the blue......My husband says he wants a pill count because they have been coming up one short.    I was so embarrassed  Anyway,  The pharmacist is called over and says that not possible, because they are dispensed by computer.   So she counts and guess what......One short, she was like......oh?  walks away then comes back with the bottle and we leave.  I go home and I count them and there were two extra pills in the bottle.  I feel so relieved it came up short ......i know that sounds weird,, but I would have felt really uncomfortable if it hadn't ........you know?  anyway......does anyone think someone is stealing them or is this an impossible computer error....uh..hmmm.  also could they narrow down the person who filled the script that day.  I feel so much better.  Im glad my husband did that because I wouldn't have had the ballz to do that.

It could be the computer.. my pharmacy just put one of those dispensing things in... computers make mistakes all the time.. could have been entered wrong.. or the person typing in how many is pocketing one everytime..LOL

I dunno if this helps..but the pills percs I used to get had 100 per bottle from the company that makes them (Endocet from Endo)..my pharm. never counted them..just took 10 out and dispensed them. He's a family friend, so I know he was not cheating me..anyway, I had mine come up with 1 missing twice. So, that had to be company error, computer error.

This is Kaiser.....the pharmacy is always a madhouse......huge.  just think if someone is doing this one pill at a time.......imagine how many narcotic scripts kaiser fills in just one day........someone is scoring.  But, I just get a weird feeling.  4 or 5 times......thats a lot of mistaken  dunno.......or how much is Kaiser pocketing by shorting everyone by one pill?

Also, never an error in any of my other non narcotic scripts.........these pills make there way to the streets in who knows how many ways...........

I always ask for a pill count, even with non narcotics.  You'd be amazed how many times there are an incorrect number.  All time record was for my husbands diabetes pills, shorted us 3 pills.  

Its the rare time the count is correct.  And we use 2 different pharmacies.

one time they only gave me half of the script.   I hadnt counted and thought Id just taken way too many.  The next time I got a refill they included the other half of that previous script.  I was in hog heaven for awhile.
So yes, they make errors. Some intentional and some not, probably.

Thought this may interest you...may not..but, I'll tell it anyway..Once, when I was going to UGA, I worked at the plant that made the codeine for Tylenol 3 and 4's. We just made the bulk codeine, made it in tanker car fulls and shipped it to processing somewhere else. We had to wear white bunny clean suits..and as we left the plant..we stopped in a small glass box and were "sniffed" for codeine. A few molicules in your suit..OK..a few grams in your pocket..not so OK.

that is interesting.......that just goes to show you how much of a problem this crud is even the manufacturer having to do that, but it does make sense.  you worked in a codeine factory........did you ever hear of or see any funny stuff going on.....you know what i mean.......
