Physical Dependance This Quick?

Hey ya'll it's snowflake and I have a quick question, I have been taking Vicodin 60 mgs a day for5 days due to surgery on my hand. I have not taken any extra only as prescribed after reading all the posts on here about the addiction issues and all the w/d horror stories i was afraid to take it at all but I really needed it any way I took my last dose at 2:00 yesterday afternoon and have not taken any more because I did not really need it but this morning I woke up and feel like I have been hit by a truck my body aches I hav ea headache really bad and my hand is killing me is my body already physically addicted or is something else going on? I really feel horrible and I am afraid to take any more just in case I am becoming dependant. What do you think? Thanks in advance,
snowflake

Sorry to hear about your pain.
5 days seems early for physical w/d symptoms, but 60mg a day is a lot for someone with no tolerance.
I would call your doctor today and explain what is going on.

I went to my pain managment doc. yesterday, and at 7 only days clean from opiates, I had to come clean with him.  According to him, and he is a pain expert, it takes about 3 weeks of consistent use to become physically addicted and goe through acute withdrawl (withdrawal).  He also contends that if someone, like yourself, is only taking them for post-surgical pain, if they STOP taking them when the pain is resolved from surgery, then they will not become addicted or have the desire to continue taking them, but get back to their life.  Interestingly enough, when I reflected back on my own stupidity, that held true for me.  It was a choice on my part to use my medication, "recreationally," that let to being physically addicted.  I hope that helps, and I will pray for you.

One other thing, this medication is meant to "mask" the pain...so, when you stopped taking it, the pain kicked in...i dont think it's any W/D, but more like the actual pain you were prescribe the meds for.

One thing though, that is a lot of meds for someone that has never taken it before and ForgotRomans is right, make sure your required use doesnt trun "recreational".

Good luck and feel better.
