The “pink cloud” is best described as a period of time where the addict or alcoholic experiences a reprieve from the struggles associated with early recovery. These struggles are generally associated with the feelings of depression, anger, resentment, self pity and the realization of where their drug addiction or alcoholism has taken them.

Upon experiencing this phenomenon for the first time, the addict or alcoholic is understandably excited. They begin to believe they now “hold the key” to their recovery. This is where the seed for relapse is planted. They begin to believe more in themselves than in the process they have been following. Without the pain as a daily reminder, they tend to forget about what it took for them to embrace recovery. Denial rears its ugly head and they minimize how devastating their drug addiction and alcoholism really was and that they have a disease of drug addiction and alcoholism that requires attention on a daily basis. Relapse prevention becomes an afterthought as the person becomes defiant and rebellious regarding suggestions contrary to their desires. Without resorting to drugs or alcohol, the individual in recovery is one step away from relapse. Remember, relapse is not an event, it is a process.

Why be such an a$$ about it.  Thank God for sub doctor's. granted there are good one's and bad one's like everything else, but a least you had the option of something to help you rather than c/t.  And, yes you might be screaming for that doctor for that appt. back.....the one you told to kiss your butt.......he may just make you wait a few weeks.  I hope you made the right choice.

I just want to be clear on my sub use I started taking pain pills about 2 years ago because i was having ovarian cysts the radiology dr was also a sub dr kinda screwy uh, i had been off vics for about 2 weeks when i went in to have a ultrasound and was talking to the dr about craving pills and he told me he could give me this med, suboxone and it would help with that(I was not in withdrawl (withdrawal) at that time)due to my own stupidity to the internet at the time i did not do any research by the time i did i went back to him and told him i didint want to keep taking it because it made my muscles hurt and i felt vary irritated and withdrawn from people he said it was to late and i needed to take more then maintain for 6 month then taper so i took my self off im not triing to be an *** but i have never been through any thing like that befor and frankly its pretty scary i am going to n/a meeting 3 times a week and counseling 2 times suboxone was not the rite thing for me but that just my case

I can definitely see your frustration.  the way this Dr. went about it was kinda screwy.  Sub is only as effective as the Doctor prescribing.  I totally understand what you are saying and going thru.  I wish you luck with this.....If I were you I would have continued with the med and tapered down.  The fact that he wouldn't give you the clonidine shows what a chit-head he is........Like I said.....there are good one's and bad one's......Sorry your going thru this......take care & good luck.
