I'm fighting a 5 year, 10-15 pill a day Vicodine habbit. I'm very proud to say that i am 18 days clean. The withdrawal was miserable but necessary if I wanted to see my only daughter grow up. She's a year and a half old and the love she shows me is worth more than any pill or withdrawal symptom. I understand what all of you are going through, and unfortunately only you can take that final stand and face your fears of withdrawal. I hate to be so forward but there's only two choices in this horrible situation. Face withdrawal or Die. I found the strength to do it on my own but not everyone can endure that pain. If you can't, please seek help, cuz you can't keep living this way. ONE WAY OR ANOTHER IT WILL COME TO AN END.
Slim a big CONGRATS on 18 days clean and I am glad to hear you got your life back. Your words are very true "It will come to an end one way or another" I am happy that you found the strenght to make it through the other side. There is one thing though that will keep you and all from going back and that is aftercare as it teaches us the tools to maintain our sober lives. God Bless---Rick
Thank You Rick. I read your journals. I don't even know u, and i am very proud of u buddy. You have done a great job. I'm sorry u lost your Dad. A tremendous loss like that is usually the reason for a relapse. You are truly a motivated fighter and i only prey that i can follow in your footsteps to recovery. You are an inspiration to us all, Keep it up buddy.
Hi Slim~~Congrats on those clean days and taking back your life. The mental part of this will kick in now so that is why we push aftercare. Using is just a symptom of what is going on. We bury many demons while we are using and we need to face them. You also learn the tools you need to live a clean healthy life. Getting clean is actually the easy part, staying clean is the hard one. You have a great outlook on this not mention that baby girl! There is no stronger bond than a father and daughter~~Keep talking with us as we are here for you. sara
Slim thank you and I know you will make it as you have the right attitude. You will see that on your journey to sobriety the tougher it gets the easier it gets and thats the mindset that gets me through everyday. That may not make sense now but as you travel down the road to sobriety you will understand. So I want to hear another sucess story so you Keep on Keepin on. Plus we need people with great attitudes as yourself helping others here---Rick
Thanks Rick. I flat out refuse to lose this fight, and i will turn people like u and Sarah for inspiration.
Sarah, no I've decided not to tell my family. Not that I'm embarrassed, I'm actually proud to beat it. I've always been a very private person. And i do not them getting into my head as I figure this madness out. They also turn to me for guidance in life in general, and i want that to continue without them wondering if I'm high. It was a very bad life choice, and i swear on everything holy that those days are behind me and i will never fall back to that dark place. Like i said, I only have one child and love her and my wife more than some pills or the fear of withdrawal. I know my battle is nowhere near over at 18 days, but right now my 18 days feels more like 1,800. Because I have no longer have urges or cravings. And if they should come back, there is absolutely no way i can go through that withdrawal process again. That alone is all the motivation I need. My wife thought I just had a two day bug. After two days I physically appeared ok, just felt like crap. This forum is the only place that I've discussed my addiction, and it does feel good to share my experience with others, and to hear great success stories like u guys. But for the 1st time in 5 years, I Feel Free!!
