Thank you all for your support. Today was my second day off the pills but i couldnt handle the withdrawals anymore so i had to start back on the pills. I talked to my ex husband last night and admitted that i am a addict. I have never told anyone about my problem. No one seems to care, they dont notice the weight loss from taking the hydrocodones wich causes me to lose weight, but my ex husband saw the change in me, and he is being so supportive but i cant seem to go without them. I feel like a junkie. I have 4 beautiful children and 2 grandchildren and i 'try' to get my life back to normal for myslef as well as them but i cant keep from falling back into that deep dark hole. Ive considered going into Detox but its so embarrassing so i havent done that yet. I keep thinking 'i can do this' but truth is i cant. Everyone tells me im so strong to have raised 4 children on my own but what they dont know is inside im the weakest person they may have ever known. Because if i was even close to being as strong as i put up a front like then i could get through this. I want to thank everyone who has posted on here for me, you all have no clue how good it is to have someone to 'vent' to about this horrible problem. So PLEASE keep the great advice coming, im certain that with the help from you all and God i CAN and WILL get through this eventually. God Bless You all and thank you all again.

I would agree with what everyone has said-and as this is my second detox I have to say the clonidine, vitamins and supplements have made it a much bearable experience.  I'm not going to lie-it is horrible-but you are essentially getting rid of poison from your body and moving forward in your life.  Hold on to that-and keep posting here.  These people are so supportive and knowledgeable.  See a doctor if you can and be really honest-they will do everything to make you as comfortable as possible.  The only way out is through(:

Honestly, withdrawls suck.  Whether you taper or go cold turkey, you're going to suffer through some icky effects.  But they won't kill you.

Physcially, you'll be able to make it through - but it really is a matter of mind over matter.   You need to keep telling yourself that every second, every minute, every hour away from the pills makes you stronger and puts you futher into recovery.

I've been exactly where you are ... I tried to quit several times until finally I got fed up and soldiered through it.  You have to come to terms with the fact that there isn't an easy way through it - there are some things that can make it more tolerable (clondidine, imodium, healthy eating, vitamins & exercise) but you will suffer through some withdrawls no matter what you do.

Hang in there ... you can do this!

Hi and Welcome! You have several options here,,you can try a slow taper off the pills over several weeks or just stop them. Youre going to experience withdrawals either way. Its a game of sorts. Initially the physical withdrawals set in 12-24hours after your last pill(s). Physical withdrawals typically can last 1-5days and you feel like sh*t! Tummy troubles,,insomnia,,crawling outta your skin,,restless legs,,increased pain,,cough,,runny nose,,Flu like symptoms. If you scroll down to the bottom right corner and look up the Thomas Recipe there are some supplements that you can take to help ease the withdrawal symptoms. The mental part of the withdrawal comes in about 2-3days. That is the toughest part. You need to have a plan in place and really look at why you take the pills-underlying depression/chronic pain. Coming off the pills also brings on depression. So be aware. NA and some kind of aftercare is helpful if thats an option. Others find support here. You can do this,,,you will be uncomfortable for a few days and you just gotta be Ok with that. You came to the right place! There will be other members coming along soon with more advice and they are amazing people! You took a first step today by posting and you should be proud of that!! ~Bkitty

Hi.  I am Marie, and I am tapering from Opana ER right now.  I know what you are feeling.  I don't know a lot about tapering or going cold turkey from hydrocodone, BUT there are lots of people on this forum that understand that exactly.  So, you are in the right place.  Just hold on, and people will write and help!!!  You can ask me anything about my process.  I am here to support you.  You can do this.  Big Hug. Marie
