Please help, I need to get off methadone and xanex in 20 days!

I have a HUGE problem... I have been taking a 120 mg of methadone and about 3-4 xanex bars evry day for the past year. I just found out today that my new job that i am about to start will not allow me to take either of these meds. I have to quit cold turkey. This job is going to start my life! I have to get it, The first day is Oct. 24 and they told me I could take another drug test before then.Probably on the 20th. What should I do? Quit the Methadone first, bc it stays in my system up to 5 days. Or both at the same time? Someone out there please help me???? This job is the start of my life... I have to have it and will take the chance, I need some advice to avoid the seizures and death????  Someone please help show me a way????

Yes you can go from methadone to suboxone. The urinalysis test will most likely not show that medicine and either way at least your trying to get off.... I would think the job would take that into consideration because you are getting off. You will have to find a doctor for the subs tho, and you can be off methadone for about 24 hours I would say, cause I did when going back on suboxone and feel fine.... Good luck! The xanax tho... I dont know, I hear only scary things about getting off them, but I,m sure ur doc will know what to do...

Yes you can but you have to be in withdrawals from the methadone first. Don't try it by yourself if you take the subs too early you would bring on an extremely intense withdrawals.have to go to a doctor there is a scale they use to determine yyour withdrawal symptoms. The subs are also very addictive

Agreed totally w/ gnarly he is a smart Guy especially in this realm....BUT....u could switch from methadone to suboxone...it doesn't show up in typical u/a drug tests. U would have to get in to pretty severe w/d from the done then take subs. U will feel normal "ish" way better than the 90 days of awfulness from methadone withdrawal ...as for the benzos ...u have to c a Dr and begin to taper them the right way. Good luck

You need to ween down on these meds. If you dont you are asking for trouble your 28 you have a good chance being younger to get off these meds.   I was on xanex for years from 25 to 33 yrs old 10mg pills and I had to ease off the xanex to finally quit and still had bad withdrawals for a while.  So dont beat yourself up you can get another job you need to take care of yourself first.  You also may need inpatient detox talk to your Doc. about the problem also.

I also hate to give you bad news, but I had methadone show up almost 3 weeks after I took it. You might want to look that up.

I hate to be the berrer of bad news but ther is no way to get off 3 to 4 bars of xanex in 20 days you WILL HAVE A SEZURE IF YOU TRY DONT DO IT......I would explain to your job that the medicine has to be slowly tapered off ,,,,,I was on 4mg your on 6 to 8mg it took me the better part of a yr to safely taper4 off the xanex you will need a doctor to help this is beyond the scope of a home detox as for the methadone it should be tapered also and again your talking months to come off it you can just jump but you will be to sick to work in 20 day if you do that I work with most of the methadoinains and  slow taper is really the only way to go we have had members forced off at doses as high as 120mg it not pritty and you will think your going to dye but it can be done the problem with methadone is not so much the withdrawal it a tuff one but that part is over in 2 weeks if tapered the problem is the post withdrawal it takes a few months to recover from methadone it took me 90 day just to start to feel better and that is very typical the house record for getting well is 60 days and she was only 23 and not on it that long......I know jobs are hard to find these days but what your asking to do verges on the impossible im not trying to discourage you but im a realist and Idont believe in sugar coating it I tell it the way it is so one knows what there getting them selfs into if you want help with the methadone I can walk you threw the detox process and im happy to help for the xanex your going to need a phyic doctor thats a huge dose and dangerous to take with methadone many people dont wake up fromaxanex/methadone combo and it can overtake you at any time you can take it for yrs then one day it reacts and kills you I wish I had a magic wand to make this al go away for you but I dont its great you want to get clean get a new joband a new start to life but what your asking in completely unrealistic I will help you where I can just let me know when you want to start good luck and God bless......Gnarly

hey jb, first off, you cannot quit the xanex cold turkey as its a benzo, you risk seizures from this.  It should be tapered off slowly under medical supervision.  Can you talk to your doctor about this?

As for the methadone i am not sure about this, Gnarly should be about later, he is a fountain of knowledge on that.

You can do this!!!
