Please help me think I'm losing it

Iv come off long term ADs, opiates (dihydrocodeine addiction), I'm self harming now I am depressed, I feel so low but also such anger deep within, I guess I used to self medicate. my mums forcing me to see three psychiatrists/therapists to help. Iv had many illnesses in my past since childhood. I crave my drug of choice 24/7. But it messes with my health and immune system so I'm basically banned from it. It was my best friend. Now what's left is deep misery and real anger. I jus wana self harm and I think I'm losing it as the days go by. What's going on? Iv not seen any docs yet. But want to know if anyone's in same or similar boat as me.

How are YOU today??
Sounds like you do need some professional help. Have you gone to any meetings like AA/NA or even Church and talked with the Preacher?

All this mind-altering meds just do that. They really whack out the Brain Chemistry. When we come off of any Substance, it take a long time for the Brain to find it's balance again. Those "Happy" transmitters, chems, receptors, hormones all of it..have been knocked down (sorta of speaking). The Sun, Music. Exercise and good eating and taking some good vit/min sure will help along in this process. Just know it does take Time for all of this to work out. Meanwhile..Do Not give up!!! Go and talk to ppl and a professional that deals with these kind of issues. Even one that knows about detoxing and addiction in a more Scientific way. Learning all I can in a more Scientific way has saved me big times these days, plus my out side Support and Church..What ever it takes to stay clean & sober, I will do. Pray you are OK..Come Back and give us a update..plz
Bless U

I'm coming off opiates too after taking Vicodin for 4 years. I only have 2 months off them but the depression and anxiety is TERRIBLE! I haven't self harmed but sure have thought about it. I just submitted a post here asking if this type of thing is a normal part of becoming sober. It seems that it probably is. Just hang in there and stay in therapy and try to see a Dr. that could help as well. It's a hard road but if we keep walking it we can get there!

Hey

There are many people out there who is suffering in the same case as you the difference is how you would deal with it. You should do the smart thing and get cured. I know it's difficult to get off your addiction but you've got to do it. Also with your treatment, it would be taxing to see 3 psych doctors but if it would benefit you then please do so. You need to be treated immediately, you must avoid further aggravation of your depression. Consider some mindfulness program and therapy, your outlook in life should be changed into positive. I urge you to stop with the self-harm, it would do you no good. I also encourage you to meditate and pray. Prayer will go a long way.
