Please help...

Briefly...I am 33 years old and have been using (abusing) pain killers, on and off now for over 4 years.  Mu use, started innocently, as I had wrist surgery some years ago and used the meds to help with my pain management.  Ahhhh, but then I realized how much "happier" and easy going I was with the pills.  That is until I ran out one day and experienced the most horrific withdrawls ever.  Of course, I went to my doctor, and told him that the pain was not getting any better ( a lie) and he just kept writing me scripts; eventually however, he caught on and told me he believed I had developed an addiction and he was no longer going to be writing me scripts...I was beside myself with worry about going through that horrible feeling again...so, I began my drug seeking behavior, looking for them anywhere I could find them, and paying whatever the cost...I couldn't function without them.  Long story short, I have reached a point in my life where I cannot do this any longer...I just cannot.  So, I went online and searched pain killer addiction and how to "ween yourself off". I found out about Suboxone.  I am a single mother and am currently unemployed so there is just no way I can afford rehabilitation.  I want my life back more than anything in the world.  I came across a bottle of Suboxone and thats all I will say about that...I do not have a doctor to tell me how to administer and so I am turning to all who have lived through my agony to help me with this...please, someone tell me how to take this, so that I can be happy again...I know this is not going to happen overnight, and I am more than willing to commit, I just need some advice.

I'm so happy for her. I hope she really gives it her all. We know it can be done. But with her type level of dependence I am sure she will probably have to deal with PAWS. She should be prepared for that. So many of us think were cured when the subs start to do there thing. Sounds like you know her very well do you think she'll have problems?

Are the pills orange and rectangular in shape with a N-8 ON one side. Are you in withdrawal now ?
What was the last opiate you took and when, Doctors recommend that you wait 36 hours from you last oxycontin, But they are assuming you took it the right way and didn't chew it. if you chewed it I have been told by the sub hot  line to wait at least 12hrs for any kind of oxycodone, Norco a fast acting opiate usually only last 4-6 hours, In this case 10 hours is enough time to wait. The first dose if it isn't too late should 8mgs place the pill under your tongue and let it dissolve completely. Now wait 2hours and ask yourself how you feel. Have your w/d passed, Do you feel alright, then stop, That should hold you for 8-10hrs, remember you are not looking for a high just a feeling of feeling normal. If you are still is withdrawal take another 8mgs but that's it your done for the day, You may experience head aches the first few days, Beth 16mg should be enough to hold you and get you straight. Not knowing how many you have it is hard to tell you how long to stay on 16mgs, So I suppose we will have to guess, You must have found a bottle of 60 so for 10 days stay on 16mgs then drop down 1 and a half pills which would be 12mgs for 5days then drop down to 8mgs for 5 days then drop down to 6mgs for 3 days and then 3mgs for 3days and then 1mg for 2days and then finally one half mg for 2 days, You should be able to walk off at .5 mgs with very little discomfort. If you do experience any discomfort it will pass in a few days. I do not know where you came across and I do not want to know. But do not be foolish put them to good use this chance will never happen again-----Good Luck----------NOAH

Ok so you took 8mgs today.. that is a good place to start. I started at 6mgs and started to taper on the 3rd day I dropped to 4mgs. Since it has a long half life and "builds up" in your system its very easy to taper with this. And the shortest time you use it the easier it is to taper. Go read the FAQ and follow the taper written there.. If you have any questions let me know.. With only 20 pills you may have to taper a bit faster than the taper on the FAQ but that will be fine..
Also my email is in my profile if I am not here.

I literally posted this last night around 11:30 pm and had taken my final 4 vics (2 10's and 2 5's) around 7:00 pm.  I knew after reading this forum that I should wait at least 12 hours (more if I could hold out) and until I had started withdrawls...I woke up around 3:00 a.m. and prayed and cried myself back to sleep, hoping that I could just hold out until 7:00 a.m. to take my first dose of Sub...I was really scared to do it before 12 hours and before I started withdrawls because of all that I read here...I only made it until about 6:00 a.m. or a bit after...I got out of bed, and placed one tablet under my tongue...by 6:30 I had NO relief and was still wide awake, so I dissolved one more tablet and it must have worked, because I passed out! Had I not had to get up to be somewhere at 9:30, I would have continued to sleep! I wanted to cry I was so happy, because I haven't had a descent nights sleep in months...waking up to take a vic or two, so I could go back to sleep...I hate who I have become because of these monsters.  I did so good today...I didn't dissolve two more in my mouth until 8:00 p.m. this evening...I finally feel like I might sleep through the night for the first time in months...now, how do I continue? And, let me just say, thank you ALL so much for your help, honestly...Unless you are in this and have lived it, it is impossible for people to understand the absolute agony your body, mind and soul go through...I just want to be me again.

Wasn't sure you'd still be up at this late hour.  I'm glad you're here to help this person but I hope you're not up because of pain problems.  I read how you're not doing so great in that department - sorry to hear it.  I had a great acupuncture session yesterday for my back and then got carried away cleaning the house and wrecked it.

Welcome here - how much of what pain medication have you been taking most recently?  That will help determine how much suboxone you need.  Whatever you do, DO NOT take it until you are having withdrawal symptoms or it will make you really sick.  FLADDICT has tons of experience and research info on Suboxone - search this site for SUB FAQ's as she posted it a couple of weeks ago and there is a TON of good info.  Remember it works differently for everyone so do a lot of research.

Hi Hun and Welcome to the forum!

I truly wish that you would have gone to the doctor for the Sub because you really DO NOT know what is in the bottle. You are assuming it is Sub.

I was on Sub for a short term answer to a long term problem. It worked, and it worked well.

I can help you, but there is someone else in here tonight that can give you more info on it. I will go catch her.

Be right back...hang in there...

It needs to be taking at the smallest amount to keep you out of withdrawals and for the shortest amount of time. Tapering down to zero as you go..  I used it for 10 days. IT s an opiate so it is addicting.  however its a partial agonist so you cannot get a good feeling from it as it produces a ceiling effect the more you take, taking more with make you feel worst actually.

How many pills do you take a day??
