Possible to reproduce positive effects of marijuana without the negatives

by intensely_curious, May 31, 2008 04:27PM
I spent 6 months smoking marijuana regularly before I realized that I was loosing memory, my business was seriously suffering and I felt depressed.

The part of marijuana that I miss the most was the ability it gave me to think clearly.  It was like thoughts flowed, and I just had to direct them.  I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was a child, and as I am today, I have to focus to think in a particular direction.  When I am not focusing, my mind feels mostly blank.  Is there a way to creat that strong stream of thoughts without smoking marijuana?

(My personal theory is that the neurotransmitters in my brain were excited by the marijuana and flowed, creating pleasure and running thoughts, and my brain stopped making thouse chemicals because it was used to having them supplied by the marijuana).

P.S.  I am faily intellegent, college graduate in his early 20's.

I believe you are right about the chemical production being affected. It takes a long time for things to get restored. If you only used for 6 months, you will have a good chance of getting back to normal. Exercise helps the endorphin production to come back.
On another note, I would seriously look at diet changes to see if it helps the adhd. I know many being helped by getting off gluten and dairy and sugars.(natural sources are ok) Do some research on it. You may be surprised. You also may want to try a ND Dr (naturopath) Other things that can help are Neurofeedback or Biofeedback.
