OOPS!!! I forgot the MOST important statement, CONGRATS on your clean time, that's awesome!!!! Thumbs up! :0)
I agree that the substance abuse forum would probably be more appropriate.
That being said, what you describe is very typical after discontinuation of Tramadol, because Tramadol has anti-depressant properties. It acts like an SNRI (serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor) antidepressant, similar to Effexor.
Therefore, when a person discontinues Tramadol, there is quite a signifiant emotional component of the detox/withdrawal, even moreso than detoxing from a standard opiate, like hydrocodone, or oxycodone, or heroin, for that reason.
This issue can be compounded further if the person has a history of depression, anxiety, or other mental illness.
There is no "quick fix" unfortunately. The best way to recover from the emotional fall out from Tramadol is to be patient and give it time. If you have a history of a mental illness, or if the depressive symptoms are intolerable, to the point where you're struggling significantly, then speak to your doctor. Some people DO eventually opt to go on an antidepressant. I personally think giving it time first is a more optimal approach.
What are you doing for aftercare? Are you going to AA/NA meetings? Are you in any kind of addiction counseling? If not, that's paramount to staying clean. Despite what most people THINK, getting clean often ends up being much easier than STAYING clean.
Good luck to you! There are awesome folks on the SA forum who will help you, educate you, and support you, so stick around!
