Prescription Medication Detox

Prescription Medication Detox

This last month I was pulled over and given a DUI for taking 12mg. of Ativan and 350mgX3 of Soma's. I suffer from Anxiety Disorder, as well as various back/neck issues which a Chiropractor is helping me with. I am a mental health worker, I love what I do, and am good at what I do. However, I feel like a hypocrite after the night before last being taken to the urgent care for taking 12 of my Soma's. The Ativans are almost gone. I have a problem, I am admitting it. I don't what to die, which is usually everyones first reaction to my situation. I know I can beat this addiction, but I don't want to go inpatient, as us social workers do not make much dough. :) I can detox at home. Does anyone have any suggestions, inspirational words or advice for my situation? My actual prescription is for 3 /350mg. Soma's a day and 3/ 2mg Ativan a day. My Xanax XR I don't abuse. Go figure :/ I think right now beating myself up is the worst part. How did I let it get here?
BTW-Happy New Year to whomever is reading.  I will await any responses to this. Thank You.

My understanding is that c/t from the drugs you are on can cause siezures.  You need to do a gradual taper.
I admit I don't know as much about these meds as I do about pain killers as they are not my DOC; just wanted you to get an answer.
Good luck and keep posting.

hi there,
i think ativan is such a short-acting med, it is may easier to abuse
them to some extent...at least that you may need more to continue
the desired effect...xanax xr is going to be there for hours, so your
story makes sense to me actually....i'm not so familiar with soma's,
but in my limited reading of posts here, i'm certain alot of people are
very well informed on the...fb

Carla theres a breathalyzer, but science has not invented a ativan, unless you consented, and that would be Very Stupid. As a social worker why dont your company should have an Enployee assisstance program, thats what social work is all about, you deal with people that you recommend seek treatment,so you should utilize inpatient and get yourself straight.

I took the breathalzyer and the outcome result was .00000.
They also took my blood.  The reason I had consented was because way back when I had charges of resist of arrest, assault on an officer (landed him the hospital), drunk in public. Needless to say the drinking has ceased. However, the trauma I went through back then by not complying, I didn't want to relive in any way OR have it come back to bite me in the ***. My job is being very supportive for the time being. I just got a Public Defender on my case, cause I can't afford an attorney. My PCP who prescribes my meds has been off and will be until tomorrow. So, I plan on immediately getting in to see him. Until then, I'm just trying to utilize the skills I so advocate to my clients. I do need to seek treatment, utilizing in-patient, I cannot afford, but it's not docked completely off my list. Thanks for your response.
