Put on his last 2 patches today..

Put on his last 2 100 patches of Fentanyl today.. My husband has decieded to go cold turkey from 200mcg +/48hrs of fentanyl.  I say plus cause he started using more that he was suppose to the last few weeks.  I am so sacred! What can I do if anything to help?? Anyone have suggestions?? The doctor gave his the basics pharagan, clonidine, ect.  I have an appointment with a place for tomorrow for suboxone but they want him detoxed 48 hours before they will take him and then classes 3x a week/4hrs a day and he doesn't wanna do that.  I just don't know what to do..

Hi~~    He really needs to attend those classes. That's part of the Suboxone program. Without the classes he may as well go cold turkey and be done with it. It's not a miracle pill in that it has it's own set of withdrawals. If he's not compliant with classes he may not be compliant with the Sub.  Be sure the prescribing doctor knows all this.

Get some Immodium and Hylands Restful Legs tablets @ Walgreens. He should force fluids and take hot baths for comfort.

All the best~

P.S. I am very glad to hear he is going to classes along with the Suboxone. Just taking the pill itself is not getting the job done. If he doesn't participate he risks being thrown out of the program. I hope he realizes how important it is and goes for it.

Hi & Welcome,

I don't know your husband's history but it sounds as though it is time for him to get clean. That is a ridiculous amount of pain medication to be taking at once, especially Fentanyl.

Because of the long half life of Fentanyl they are waiting to dose him with the Suboxone. That is a good thing and if he doesn't wait or does something he shouldn't, there is a good possibility he will be sorry. So make sure he listens.

I am not going to tell you that 48 hours will be easy. Bear with him and ask any questions you need to ask here. Glad he has the Clonidine and the Pharagan, he will probably need them.

If he would like to speak with the forum, have him come on. Either way, hang in there. It is all for the best and I am sure he will be fine.
