If you were to go in the er and get narcotic pain medicine while you were there is it considered a relapse?

Thank you I am feeling a lot better tonight and as long as I am able to sleep through it tonight I should be fine. The funny thing about the script was that it wasn't even hard for me to say no. Proud of myself for that one

Hey ash glad to hear that everything turned out ok. I was worried about you and was hoping it wasnt kidney stones but I guess thats better than other things. Ya you have a justified reason for getting pain medicine last night and I would not consider that a relapse. You should not have wd from it maybe a little fatigue and upset tummy but nothing major. The fact that you turned down the script for vikes is huge. Ur serious about your recovery and nothing is getting in your way..even a medical emergency. Congrats on your clean time and your ability to say no and not give in to impulses. Ull be a inspiration to many on here in a similar spot. Good luck

Hi there and congratulations on your clean time!! I believe that what you are going through justifies your taking the medication.Kidney stones are very painful. You went to the ER in search of help, not drugs. If you were there drug-seeking,then I would say yeah, that's a problem. However the fact that you turned down the script says a lot!! Great job staying strong!! There are plenty of non-narcotic options out there. However I disagree with the previous post about suboxone, and tramadol. Sub is used primarily to get off opiates and can be very habit forming. Tramadol is non-narcotic but also as habit forming as opiates, and just as dangerous. There are plenty here that have been addicted to Tramadol and had a very rough go of it. Gabapentin is a nerve pain blocker. The best route is to ask the specialist when you go in as to what to take, and don't be afraid to ask for non-narcotic painrelievers. Hope this helps. Glad to hear you got your situation with the kidney stones figured out. Good luck with the specialist-keep us posted o.k.? Stay strong and good luck to you!

It was kidney stones I have to go see a specialist on Tuesday to figure out what to do with them. They gave me morphine while I was there and I slept all night there and they offered me Vicodin to go home with and I said no thanks. The pain is a little better today and I can handle it right now

Yeah I decided to go my kids dad is gonna come get me and take me. If they give me a script I won't get it and I know I have enough self conte for that I have a bottle sitting in my closet that I see everyday which makes it easier for me some how knowing that there right there and I choose not to take them. It doesn't bother me.

Ok well i think your far enough along to be able to take something given in a ER setting and one time. Although they may give u a script to take home than what? Im really not sure ash im sorry I dont know what to say other than if the pain is over a 9 outta 10 go to the ER. No point in suffering plus u cant be sure thats the cause of ur pain. What if its something else..somethin worse? I think its worth getting checked out? Can u take urself there or are u unable to drive? Do u have someone to drive u?

Im assuming it's kidney stones because I'm had them twice before and it feels exactly the same and both times I had to have a procedure done to break them up because they were to big to pass which is why it was so painful. I've been clean for 16 days

I am not a nurse and I really dont know much about kidney stones so you may want to go to the ER if its that bad..how do you know for sure its a kidney stone and not something else? How long have you been clean from opaites?

The pain has been all day long and it is absolutely aggonizing. I've tried Ibpurofin and it doesn't help at all. I'm trying to just sleep but even with my sleeping poll that normally knocks me out it is horrible

There are many non-narcotic medicines that they can give you but I am not sure if going to the ER for them is hardly worth it. Have you tried ibuprofen? How long have u had the pain? I am not sure what they will give u in the ER I have never gone and been given pain medicine. Try not to justify it in your head and think that its bad and going to set you back in your recovery. THe more u tihnk about the pain the worse it will be. If the pain becomes unbarable do what u gotta do..go to the ER

Kidney stones and I can't take it anymore. I went before for them an they gave me Toradol and I'm allergic. But I can't take the pain anymore. I have Vicodin but I will not take that. So I was just wondering of something else will make a difference? I guess I'm just trying to convince myself that it's ok and I don't have to suffer

It depends if you have something going on that requires you to go to the ER and you need pain meds to help it then thats that. You have got to do what you gotta do. If its only one night its not going to hold you back too much but if possible I would use non narcotic drugs to solve the problem. It is however up to you..what is the issue ur going to the ER for if i may ask??
