Questions about Soma

by HeroInHell, May 21, 2007 12:00AM
I was wondering if Soma was an opiate or in the opiate family in any way? If not, can it be used or would it be helpful toward the pain of opiate withdrawl?

Just read about soma.  It is an antianflam and it has something to calm your nervous symptoms.  Sounds like some good for w/d.  It did say to be careful if you are also  taking muscle relaxers. It is not an opiate from what I read on webmd.

No somas are not opiates they are muscle relaxants and are extremely popoular in the heroin population to help with withdrawals. Usually when people come down from heroin they like to take somas b/c they are cheaper to get on the streets than xanax is or other benzodiazepines. For some, somas help w/d more, for others a benzodiazepines help more. Wheredidmyenergygo is correct about taking other muscle relaxants at the same time, basically too much muscle relaxation can be a problem.

Hope these posts are helpful

You got some great Dr like answers to your question. I"m an addict and my doc for many yrs was heroin. The last time I wd from heroin ( 6 yrs ago ) I had somas to "help " with wds. Being an addict I took way to many, passed out and woke up later with a head ful of somas and an urge to use,I did and I od and nearly died. Addicts are not limited to abusing only their doc. Plz be careful and remember theres alot of drugs that could help with wds but also remember your an addict. Youve allready used drugs as a solution to your problems, you may want to beat this problem clean,,gl whatever u do
