Quick question...

by skippysizemore, May 30, 2008 05:47AM
I am a little over 3 months off methadone, will it show up on a drug screen still? I still feel some withdrawals, I think. I have started to sweat again, a little, not anything like days 4-60. But, a friend of mine said I could be experiencing PAWS. Will it show up in a drug screen?
Thanks Skippy

Hi Skippy,  I am fairly new here, just detoxed off of lortab with sub for 20 days and feeling good.  The reason I am writing is that I wanted to tell you congratulations on coming off of methadone.  I have been reading your journals and bless your heart, you have indeed had your share of rough times and I am so glad that you are doing ok.

My very best friend's son who is only 23 is on 110 mg of methadone(actually he can't make it to the clinic everyday since it is out of town so they drop him to 80mg. when he misses and if he happens to make the next day they bring him back up to 110mg) He really wants off so bad.  Him and his girlfriend intially started messing around with OC's and that is what led them to the methadone clinic.  I wish me or his mom would have known what they were getting into but neither of us had any clue how hard it would be for when he does stop.

He doesn't have access to the pc very often but when he can, I am going to have him read your journals if you don't mind.  The only advice I knew to give was to start a slow taper of maybe 5mg per month?  I have also showed his mom the amino acide protocol that will help him when the time comes.

I hope and pray that this methadone clinic will get behind him and do what he asks when he goes to taper.  I am getting angry just thinking of the possibility of them upping and lowering his dose like they are doing now so it will be harder on him.  I am gonna keep my mouth shut (will be hard..lol) and not butt in with the clinic because I don't want to make it worse but I swear those people better help him come down slowly.  He is just a young man still...sigh!

Anyhow, thank you for sharing what you went through because he needs to read it.  Take care!  Lyn

PS to Lisa if you are following this thread still >  Remember when I told you that the clinic had his girlfriend at 150mg of methadone, I was wrong, she is on 180 mg.  Crazy, isn't it?

This should,nt be a problem as most companys do not check for methadone, not to mention after this length of time the methadone is out of your system. I know what you mean about the sweating deal, I,ve been off methadone for almost two months & I still sweat on occasion, & still feel a little of the withdrawals, which are very mild, regardless it amazes me how long it takes to recovery from methadone.
