Quit Pain Pills / Now the Xanax

Ok guys i took a .25mg xanax yesterday at 6:30...then i took 10 mgs of valium at 1 am went to sleep by 2 or so and woke up at 5-6am took another 10mg and then nothing allll the way until now i just took another .25 mgs i was feeling really weird and it was almost 24 hours since i had any xanax...am i doing this right or am i doing something wrong ... i dont have a pcp and i dont have insurance but like i said in my previous post i got 30 10mgs of valium to hopefully switch over and then quit but i dont know maybe i'm crazy for thinking that i can do it when my mind and body felt this weird this evening on a positive note i did cut out the 1.5 mgs i took at bedtime however i basically switched to the valium so what would you guys do tonight ? Push it further take less or more ... this is very confusing i've got the willpower i really do i just detoxed off 400mg's of oxycodone 7 weeks ago COLD...this xanax is the last crutch i have ... and the only reason i started taking it again was SLEEP...god i was looking back at my previous posts from a few years back and i was so happy and i was so dead set against relapse and look what happend....i hope to hear some responses thanks!

Ok guys its been 26 hours since my last xanax and 20 hours since my last valium! I took 2 10mg valiums last night before bed ... and they did not work! I slept maybe 2 hours maybe 3 i woke up and felt decent but i did not get out of bed too much today.  I kept feeling like i wasnt awake and needed more sleep but couldnt.  Its weird.  So my plan tonight is to go as long as i can and wait until i feel tired or feeling weird from withdrawl and i will take a piece of valium.  I know i'm kind of just winging it but i just really want this xanax out of my system and i'm very  much trying to get the valium out as fast as possible.  My main goal is to go 24 hours without anything~! I may be way off but i am very strong minded and have a lot of will power and a lot of people are waiting for me to recover.  My life is basically on hold.  I just want to be over this.  Its been 8 weeks this friday without a pain pill.  I'm just trying to get a grip on this and tear it up.  I think we all just have to be strong as much as possible, and not give in until it is absolutely necessary.  Hope to see some responses to my journey.  I've crossed over from 1.5mgs of xanax to .25 xanax and 20mgs of valium and then did the same things yesterday...the only difference today is NO XANAX i waited 2 days to cut it out so i'm strictly on valium and i will take 10-15 mgs of valium tonight i may just try 10 but wait until i'm tired.

Josh you need to have a proper taper switching over to the valium is great because it long acting which mean you should be able to go longer without taking more .here is the thing if you dont do it probably you are at risk for seizures and we dont want that to happen you really need to work this out with a doctor so they can make u up a plan with the valium.

Those are high mg's of Valium to be taking so close together. You could go to sleep and never wake up. I hope this scares you into stopping this behavior. It is completely irresponsible for any dr to prescribe that to you in those amounts. Not to mention trading one benzo for another. Get another dr - fast!

I know "Just Say No" would be a stupid comment Josh but I am just worried about you trying to do this taper on your own. Seriously consider speaking with the doctor and maybe taking someone with you so you don't fall into grabbing some other script. Arm yourself.

Hey Josh , Welcome back I remember you from when I first came to Medhelp ! I will tell you one thing I think worked better for me then Xanax and that was Klonipin (Clonzapam ) It last 8 hours vs 3 for Xanax and it doesn't have as near the nasty side effects as Xanax , at least that's what the UCLA doctors tell me . Most of them wont even prescribe it . And Klonipin works well for me . I know any Benzo has its own set of problems but from my research Klonipin is a better choice at least in the many opinions I got and it may make you sleep longer .

I'm going to comment on my experience backing up 20 years when I was being prescribed xanax. I was taking 3 -1.0's a day for a period of 7 months or so. Sometimes 4 maybe 6. I do read and hear alot about the addictive qualities or wd's from the stuff, but honestly? I never had anything of consequence hit me when I cold turkeyed off them. Not sure why , but thats the truth..Maybe they were there but I wasn't thinking about the possiblity and maybe I wrote off any headaches or whatever as something else..Last time I had any prescribed was 4 years ago and when I stopped then, I experienced some irritation and tenseness in my legs a few nights, but that was about it.

Valiums I'd be careful of. You get far enough down the road and your in for a heck of a ride getting away from them. In serious cases, the wd's can be as bad if not worse than heroin. Severe cramps, balled up on the floor type stuff that can last 3 or 4 days. I saw this in a film presentation as part of an out-patient program I was attending. Just be careful. As ibkleen says,,your mixing two powerful sedatives which isn't advisable..

how long have you been trying to get off the oxys? when and why did you relapse?

Oh btw the reason i'm scared to go back is because i dont want him saying here do you want these 300 roxycodones and 90 bars of xanax and 90 Morphine pills? I dont want the question.  U know what i mean?

I had a crappy pain management doctor.  I am afraid of going back so i went to a real doctor and this is what he did.  Before i never had a schedule i mainly took them to sleep i was taking 2 bars a night and then as my pain pill addiction progressed i started popping a few bars in the daytime too.  This doctor just said quit the xanax and go over to valium but i'm sorry its not that easy.  There is a process.  I never buy from the street.  I didnt want to take a xanax tonight but i have to feel good.  If i took the valium i didnt know what to expect because that valium made me real drowsy so thats why i just want to take it at bedtime.  I'm not comfortable with the amount he gave me either.  BTW no insurance brand name valium was 210.00 !!! See i feel bettrr now that i took this .25 xanax ...

Hey Josh-Welcome back around.

Honestly, you do not have enough to do a proper taper and you know it can be dangerous and there is a possibility of seizures.

I don't know what your schedule was when you were taking the Xanax previously so I can't comment on this schedule you are on now. I am not sure, or comfortable, with you introducing the Valium. Now you are mixing two dangerous drugs.

Not to be rude, but you have no doctor so you are buying these on the street? Please, please try and get to a doctor and let him/her get you on a proper taper. This is nothing to fool around with hun.
