Quit Smoking and the Vicodin

by Firefaery1023, Mar 02, 2008 10:16AM
I just realized that I have gone over 24 hours without a cigarette plus the 60 some hours without the vicodin.  I have smoked on and off for years and have quit many times.  I have never really been addicted to the nicotine, I only smoke when I am in the car to keep myself entertained.  (I have an hour ride to work).  I knew if I could make it 1 daywithout a cigareete they would taste nasty.  So I just tossed my last cigarettes.  I figure I might as well get rid of all of the poisons in my body.

Hey Congrats maybe you are finding inner strength you didn't know you had! You Go Girl!! I smoked of and on since I was in the 6th grade and I never became addicted to nicotine either weird how some things can get ya and others don't.

That was my original thought.  I would quit the vicodin and then quit the cigarettes.  But when I woke up this morning I realized that I didn't have a single cigarette and I didn't feel like having one.  I have done this before and then tried smoking and it tasted nasty but I did it anyway and ended up being a full time smoker again.  This time I know I have the will power not to touch them.

Thanks for the support.  Mentally I feel excellent about my decisions on the other hand my body aches and I have no energy but that is because of the vicodin withdrawals.  I have no cravings for a cigarette.  All the years I have been smoking and I knew if I went 1 day without I could stop.  I never got addicted to the nicotine, to tell you the truth I don't think I inhaled all the way.  I think I got it to the back of my throat but never to my lungs. (Well maybe sometimes)  So I think I am going to have to worry more about throat cancer than lung cancer.
