That is great! Do you think that you will stop cold turkey or tapper off.  There are alot of good things to use during your tapper, if that is what you chose to do.  I would try some type of nicotine patch, that will help your cravings, good luck! This will be life changing!!

i used the gum...it doesn't make it easy by any means, though!

for me, i waited till the urges got so unbelievably bad that i HAD to have a cigarette. i was literally shaking! i couldn't think... i couldn't move.... this was about 24 hours in....THEN i chewed my 1st piece of 4mg gum and it brought sanity back into my mind. i still wanted a smoke, but it calmed the raging beast enough that i could keep focus and keep going. i had goals....i had reasons to quit.....when i would regain my focus with the gum, i would remember these reasons and they'd keep me going. when the urges got back to unbearable levels again, instead of smoking i'd accept the discomfort as part of the horrible process of quitting..like discomfort of a disease....and instead chew gum to get only mild relief.

it wasn't easy at all. it was insanely hard, actually. i can't believe i did it. make a goal...simply make this goal. don't smoke for 6 months....DO NOT SMOKE for 6 months....dedicate 6 months of your life to not smoking no matter how horrible the discomfort is. then, after that 6 months is up if you still want to smoke, do it. it will be a 6 months that you will remember for the rest of your life...but i'm betting that at the end of it, you will not want to undo all you've achieved by smoking a cig. i didnt'. i said 6 months and if i fail i fail, but i'm gonna make it at least 6 months! that 6 months has turned into 2 years and counting.

good luck and try the smoking forum too!
