Quiting cold turkey

I only have 8 Hydrocodone left and i think i will take one every 4 hours until they are gone, then i will be really scared, i usually take about 14 a day, so does anyone have any advice for me, i need all the help i can get  right now. I am so thankful for the site. Help anybody! I am really scared and i have no one to talk to.

Ok so I misread and now see that you have 8 pills and not 4.  I would do a stepdown like the other member stated or just take one when it's real bad.  I was on 160mg per day of Oxy like I stated.  My doc wrote me a 10mg percacet x 60 script to step myself down.  I knew that wouldn't work much so I didn't take anything for 3 days and then I started taking one every 8 hours and for me that worked better.  I don't think they would have helped at all if I didn't go c/t for 3 days first.   I'm not sure there is any one right answer.

Are you quitting because you want to quit or just because you've run out?  I went c/t from a 160mg of Oxy per day habit and it was pretty bad.  If you only have 4 pills left, I don't think they'll help much now.  That's just my $.02.  I was so scared as well and had so much anxiety but it was more anxiety about what was going to come more so than anxiety caused by the w/d.  Don't get me wrong....w/d does cause anxiety but once I decided to just go cold turkey I was a lot less scared.  That was along time ago and I'm back on medication since I just had back surgery last Thursday.  If I could do it anyway I wanted I'd probably taper down pretty fast and take something strong for anxiety.  I didn't have anything before so I just went c/t.  I was on this site so much.  I would alternate between a hot shower-medhelp-hot shower-medhelp for days.  I think I'm going to try to get off my pills again soon so I'll be right back in the same boat.

Hi Lele,

Welcome to the forum. You've come to the right place. If you were taking 14 a day, it may help a little to try to spread your last pills out but you are still going to have withdrawals. It will last about 5 or so days of feeling like a bad flu. You can do this!

How long were you taking  them and what exactley were you taking?

If you look in the health pages, at the top right corner of the page, you will find info on Amino acids and the Thomas Detox Recipe. I would get some of the amino acids(just look at the warnings if you are on antidepressants) and vitamins. Drink gatorade, use immodium when needed and take a lot of hot baths. I drank ensure too.

Well i was only able to quit by tappering. So i would say to spread it out for a few days or more. Instead of taking them every 4 hours , just take it once a day. Like maybe 3 pills today, 2 pills tomorrow, 2 pills the next day, then one.

If you just take 1 pill at a time you are just about going to be in full withdrawl anyway.
How many do you take at a time?

Hi Im not too sure about going c/t but the others who do will be around so. At my worst I took about 8 pills a day but how strong are they?? I was all alone too and it stinks but ur not alone anymore!!
