READING BOOKS

by steveo30, Jan 30, 2009 10:25PM
aftercare is something i forgot about after my last stint in rehab, stayed clean for 3 months and boredom took over and it didn't take long before i was back in the same situation.i went to my first aa meeting today in a long time and i loved it,thanks to a good friend that gave me a mental beating.i haven't felt this good in awhile.anyways i was given 2 books by my sister ,1 is called the power of now and the other is a book she ordered online called the alcohol and addiction cure.i cant put these books down, they bring everything to a light i've never seen before.the alcohol and addiction cure book explains how to get to the root of our problems after we get clean, there are underlying reasons that make us do the things we do,we must confront these issues.i just have a different outlook on things tonite,i just hope i continue thinking positive,WOW.

glad you found something to read that helps. Im an avid reader although I mainly read fiction (horror). I did once start reading a recovery book by betty ford, but i never finished it. I just couldnt get into it the way i get into fiction. But to each his/her own. Reading is great for the brain and keeping yourself occupied!

HI,  I have been clean for 163 days today ( WOOHOO ) ,  anyway,  I wanted to tell you and anyone else interested that I too love to read books about addiction and recovery.  They really inspire me to continue on with my sobriety.  A great book I'm reading now is "Broken"  A story about addicition and redemption by William Cope Moyers.  I got it at Books - A - Million for $13.   I can hardly put it down.  I would recommend it to anyone who has had / does have an addiction problem.  Enjoy.  April
