RLS and insomnia relief

So like ireallyneedhelp76, I've battled insomnia, I do mange to get a few hours here and there. Last night my RLS was INTENSE.  Tonight I was cleaning out my med bag to ensure no more norco was lurking in there. I recall purging all the Ativan, Xanax, Klonopin, Clonadine, Valium, and oxycontin last time I went ct. To my delight, I found that I clung on to one bottle of hydroxyxine. I immediately thought "score", I'm sleeping tonight. I just can't remember if I had any drowsiness the next day or not after taking them. They were rx'd after my last major surgery so I could sleep. They are a little expired. I took one being so eager to rest well before work tomorrow, now I'm wondering and thinking "crap", I hope I'll do fine. Any thoughts or personal experience and feedback is truly appreciated. Oh and PS, no addiction worries with this, otherwise I wouldn't still have nearly a full bottle since October 2009.  ;)

If RLS is intense, any antihistamine could make it much worse!  Hydroxyzine is one, so I'd be careful.  While it's not habit forming, you should still be very careful what you take for a while.  The word, "score" needs to be out of your vocab for a while!!!!!!!!!! : )

I do have to ask this question as it's crossed my mind before - how is it you have access to all of those other medications but don't to the melatonin or some of the other supplements we've suggested?  Please I mean no disrespect here, just curious..... :)

I've never taken that but usually with expired medications the only trouble is they may not be as effective.  You could also call and ask a pharmacist; they're so knowledgeable.  And if you  don't have access to valerian root or melatonin, maybe you could order it online?  I've never tried he valerian root but I love melatonin.  It works great!

On and for the ones who do not know, I have no access to valerian root or melatonin bc of where I reside.
