Reading material that helped in recovery

Has there been any reading material that has been helpful during your recovery.  At first I found it really difficult to concentrate on anything for more than a few minutes.  I began reading this little book by Rick Warren, called "God's Answers to Life's Difficult Questions."  It was great in helping me see that even though I screwed up over and over again, God still loves me and hasn't given up hope in me.  This little book is the one that gave me the courage to sit my husband down and tell him that I had become addicted to sleeping pills.  We both cried, and I have been totally off the sleeping pills since January 2nd, pain pill since 5/22.

Cograts to you on your time clean from sleeping pills and pain meds. Keep up the good work sweetie!

Lady I'm going to look for that book. I need all the inspiration I can get. Seems like I have a hard time concentrating on reading. I can't figure that one out. but thought I start with an eye exam. My eyes are aging.

I found that little book at Wal-Mart for less that $10 bucks.  It is amazing how little sobriety costs but we don't want to accept it.  Yet we will spend thousands on our addictions and not think twice.

i have been reading alot myself to see why i like to numb myself and not be my self. thanks for the info i have been needing to find a new book just got done with my last one. this also was a great book it call "the power of postive thinking" by norman peale. my dad got it for on amazon.com (he is a recovering alcholic) and it really help me see how i looked at myself on the inside. the best line was "i always judged myself by my intentions, and everyone else judged me by my actions. anyway thaks for the info and my prayers go to all of us.
