Ok, I've researched and researched. Have read all your comments.  Would someone let me know if I can use Ativan and Clonidine for opiate withdrawal? Anybody done it this way?  Have never had a problem with benzo's.  ONly stinkin opiates for 2 years. Please post.  thanks.

The heart pounding is possibly anxiety and a benzo will help that...be careful with them as they can be habit forming...clonidine helps with the tummy issues, the sweats, sleep to a certain degree and makes you feel less anxious...does make many feel tired due to the lowered blood pressure....and do check your blood pressure before using it...i did not use it but i dont really think i needed it...i was at 80 mg a day and felt yucky for 4 days physically....be safe and glad to hear u are moving forward

I take 5mg and then lately it's been only an hour before I take another 5mg.  When I can feel my heart start to pound....thats the thing that kills me and mood swings..yuck. So tired so I pop another...yesterday wrote down when I took them...yeah, just about a total of 6 or 7 10mg hydros.  I always break them in half...why I dont know...

Have not been diagnosed with tachy...have read that it is part of withdrawal and have experienced it.....so your above advice is part of the short taper you sent?  Can get more and will do the long if it is more comfortable......totally....sure thank you for your help...really seems easy why couldnt I have thought of that?? Guess I have to be told what to do...whatever, I will do it...will await the longer taper instructions....smooches to you.

Clonidine will lower your blood pressure.....maybe wait and take it when u start feeling bad from withdrawals as that may make ur blood pressure go up at that time...i would not tae it while i was tapering....70 mg a day?  is that your dose?  that is not a high dose and u may not even need the clonidine for wd purposes....off to work...good luck

I will send it to your inbox...DO u have tachycardia??  my son had heart surgery for that.....U will have to break the clonodine in half...Also i  suggest that u break that one in half also, and take your blood pressure...
Adivan is fine, just don't take more then presribed...

Am also concerned about tachycardia...hate it....when it comes on (withdrawal) my habit has been to take another hydro to ward it off...stupid, huh?

Yes, totally have anxiety issues...am currently in a big mess with sick (mentally too) in-laws I help take care of....blood pressure usually low 113/70...The ativan is 2mg. I can break the ativan in half, then half again. Is .5mg half of 1mg?  I know I will feel bad, but have young children and have to keep going...I have been told I have major depression disorder and PTSD.  Well I totally already knew that...Just want to know how often to take it during taper......I have an army of supplies...5HTP, LTyrosine, B6 etc.  C/T or taper?  Just need a regimen and I will start....always been scared of combining.  Please help...where you at r2r?

yes you can and as long as you are very careful with the Ativan it will help you through the rough times. Just use as small a dose as possible and for a short of a time as possible. I know you have never had a problem with Benzos but be very careful.

clonidine should be 0.5 mg.   what does you b/p usually run ? I would suggest contacting another MD one who is more up on addictions. Also do you suffer from anxiety problems before trying to get off these pills. I know I am normally pretty laid back,  but for about 4 days the dog wouldn't even come near me. I left tramadol 800 - 1200 mg plus a day last Wed. Again look for someone more up on addiction and for you and your families sake throw them away you will be sick roughly 5-10 days BAD flu bug.

Oh God. thank you....have tried to look up some kind of tapering schedule to no avail.  How long for taper?  About 30 left.  I have had benzos in the past...anxiety issues, yucky stuff in life you know...like everybody else...during taper will I use the others also?  Thanks for your help....it is late Im getting stupid and feel like an idiot.

Do u think u can taper??  It does take self control, but it sounds like u can...Tapering will help so much, If so i can send u a taper plan..

K...this is gonna sound weird...but I freak about combining any meds.  I take 1- 10mg hydro and break in half.  Take 1/2  (5mg) as soon as I wake up cause of the nasties and just about every two waking hours after (or a smidge earlier) til bed.  Im weird I guess.  So approx. total of 7?  It's been getting sooner recently....

your clonidine is 1mgs.....Are u sure it is not .1....I am not a nurse, but that sounds like alot...But i will wait for a nurse to tell u on that one...I will message on to help with that...
My b/p is always much lower than that...That sounds like norm...But i will still wait for a nurse..
When u say 5mgs every 2 hours?  or what?  and how many a day, then we can better help you..

it is ok to be scared...We are were and still are..It is good to have support at home, but if that is not possible , then we can be your support

This is a kicker.....went to meth place in Dec. told them how much I took.  Took my first dose of meth...was sick as a dog, thought I was gonna die and they told me this was not for me..literally shunned me.  So I thought I'm not as bad as most users....so embarrased.

Have been thinking about tapering...but have not figured out a schedule....clonidine from doctor 1mg. Dr. admitted he is not an addiction specialist.  That is why I haven't started yet.....how much and when?  He prescribed it for hot flashes, cause I confessed to him confidentially....very confused. No one knows about my problem.....so worried about trying to do this without family (husband) finding out...yuck.  I want to start this...as I said sure wish someone would just "tell me".  Usually have low b/p.  Yesterday was 113/70.
