Reason most of us stay clean

For those of us that have children you know how much impact they have on getting us to get clean and staying clean. With Mothers Day around the cornor I thought I would share what my little 8 yr old girl wrote and read out loud in the gym of her school for me yesterday.
Feel free to share your stories as well.

  Best Mother

    My mother is a very caring mother. She really cares when i get hurt. Mom worries when i get in trouble. Mom gets concerned when i get bad grades. She really gets worried when i get bullied around and teaches me how to fight back. Mom really takes charge when i get made fun of.
    My Mom is a loving mother, she hugs and kisses me all the time. She love hits me and i love hit her back it is so much fun. She is nice enouph to put me to bed every nite and read a story and cuddle.
    Mom lets me do a lot of things by myself. she lets me play when ever i ask her. Its really fun when she takes me shopping.
    My mom teaches me everything she knows, she loves to teach me about cooking, camping, how to behave how to be nice to others and she teaches me how to protect myself if i get in to danger and she teaches me how to spit and pee in the woods.
     I love my mother and wouldn't want anyother. Mom I love you.

Happy Mother's Day!
I miss my daughter terribly reading these posts.  I remember when she was 4-6 and the toothless lil smile.  She looked back at those pictures of her in kindergarten and first grade about 3 years ago not long before she died and said "Mom do I have any pics WITH teeth?"  She said I didn't think I'd ever get my teeth back lol  I told her yes look further you are just as beautiful now as you were without teeth hahahahhaha  OMG we both laughed so hard we cried that day it was just after her Dad passed away.  And I remember chasing her all over the yard at age 5 because she said dammit lol  By the time I caught her  we were both laughing so hard I said "dammit I can't breathe now"  hahahhaa so how could I spank her.  Ahhhhh God to have those days back.  Your children are your legacy when you leave this world.  And they grow up so very fast.   You are all AWESOME Mom's have a great happy day.

I have a goddaughter and just having that responsibilty helps me get through the day, I have to be there for her. Now no kids...yet.  lol

LOL  I remember my grandma dropping her teeth and chasing me when i was little, at first i was scared and then thought it was funny.
I rmember laying in bed and pulling my teeth trying to get them to come out like her's did.

I felt compelled to add my 2 cents.  I spent yesterday with my 7 yr. old grandson.  I asked him what he was giving his mom for Mother's Day.  He said straight faced "I cant tell you, its a secret.  I said i wont tell and he said but if my mommy asks you you will have to tell her cuz you dont ever lie.  OMG i just about fell off my chair.  I am bigger than life to this little boy.  THEN after that moment he said, "grandma when i get "old" like you will i be able to take some of my teeth out like you?  I told some of my friends at school and they want you to come to class and show them cuz they dont believe me!!!!  I kissed his little cheek and said you are a godsend.  Out of the mouth of babes!!!!

avis...i know all will be well...i feel it in my bones....mine are grown and married...never shared my addiction with them...i am here on this earth to be strong for them..i dont like to show weakness and perhaps that is a weakness of mine...never the less...kids are a reason to live...older or younger...they always need us and they never really get to a point to where their mom or dad is not their anchor...i never have!...happy Moms day!

OMg i am laughing so hard, my dog is looking at me like i am crazy........That sounds like what my husband does.....He just loves for my little one to pull his toe..then rip....Then she just laughs and laughs....

That was awesome.  Your daughter gave me that funny lump feeling in my throat.  She sounds so much like my two little angels.  The only differance in them was instead of peeing in the woods I showed them how to fart at hunting camp with me.

My son is in surveillance from pediatric cancer  he should have to ever worry if his mom is not going to be there for him .

Gosh i remember those days too..And like u , no money or expensive gift can be better then the things they made at school all by themselves, and were so excited to give to us..And i love the part you wrote and toothless grins...too cute..

Sometimes when life gets tough, and i feel like caving...i look at old photos, and those things i have saved from my four kids, and i know i have to stay clean...Sometimes i will pop in a home movie that is very old, and it just gives me chills, of how happy i was without pills.......And finally here i am again , happy with no pills...NEVER did i think i could be again....

Your post reminded me how much I miss when my kids were little and they would come running out of school with their hands behind their back and those huge toothless grins.They would be just bursting with pride about the mothers day card and the gift that they made you in art class.We wouldn't make it to the car before they had to give it to me and everytime I'de be standing in the parking lot crying like a baby.Those were the best mothers day gifts ever.Hallmark could have never said it better then my kids did.I'de take one of those cards over a big expensive gift anyday.Now we're raising my stepdaughters 2 little girls and I heard my 18 year old tell the the oldest granddaughter yesterday that she should make grandma a card for mothers day because those are her favorite type of gifts,the ones you make yourself so hopefully I'll get to experience that joy again. Great post and great kid,congratulations.Theres a country song by Jamie O'Neil called somebody's hero,you should give it a listen.It sounds like you're a hero in someones eyes and rightfully so.Peace.

bobby, thats so great she is just like you.  lol   my grandbaby keeps me motivated to stay sober.  everytime i look in those blue eyes...i just wanna stay clean.

My wife is not available but I know that our children are what we are fighting for. I guess the reason we feel so bad is we've been here b4 with other addictions and just got blind sided by the pain killers. Our son took all our junk out to the ditch where the water was really rushing and dumped them he is 15 he then stated just remember your problems will wash away just as easy as long as you believe in yourselves.  What can you say to that?

my kids are my strenth also. Thats why im going through this, we have many more fish to catch together and my wake up call was that I became a grandpa last week

Man....at first I was tearin' up just thinkin' back to the time when mine were that young.  Your daughter's words were great.....then, I just about spit out my tea and choked 'cause of the spit and pee remarks.  Love it...and I hear ya.  Just seeing how happy the youngins are to have their mother back is reason enough for me.
