Requesting advise on dismissing oxycodone from my daily routine

I currently am taking 30 mg oxycodone prescription meds and have been taking them for about a year and a half. I was on the 15 mg about 6 months ago maybe. I had cervical fushion in dec of 2008, with 2 disc replacemnets in between c 3,4 and 5. I currently have a herniated disc between 6 and 7 now and a disc in my lower lumbar similar. I am going to participate in physical therapy to strengthen the abdominal muscles along with the neck and back muscles, (per my doctors prescription to do so), as well as join an excercise facility to help as well. He is going to drop me down again to the oxycodone 15s at the end of this month so I can wein my way off of these pills that I do not want to continue to take, though I experienced a half a day of the withdrawals associated with these meds, about 2 weeks ago, and I cannot go through that again! The problem was that I overexerted myself at work, causing additional pain, and then adding a pill here and there to my daily regemin, causing me to come up short before my next appointment for my refill. I eneded up calling rescue because I was scared of what was happening to me  and could not function right at all. They informed me of the fact that I was having withdrawals but offered no suggestions on how to lessen these or get through them. What products are out there that will help with riding out the storm (so to speak), or can substitute a likeness of what I am having withdrawals from, to help me finally be rid of these for good? Please help, Lisa Richard

Since your doc knows the situation, why not ask for a taper schedule and/or some rxs to help you through. You are doing the right thing but it doesnt have to be as awful as some experience!
