Restless legs syndrome

Restless legs syndrome

Hi. I'm 66 days clean from a 15 year + opiate addiction (subutex being my last addiction). I know it can take months to recover fully and I have read on here before that rls can be the last thing to go. But basically I am now feeling really good but I still have pretty bad rls throughout the night. It starts about an hour or so before I go to bed, once I start to feel tired I start getting really stretchy and once I go to bed it starts, mainly in my feet. It's quite trivial I know but it's quite annoying and I just wandered if anyone had had rls for this long and if so when did it start to go away.

They only time I've been sober that long was when I was pregnant. I had rls throught both pregnancies. It is really annoying, drives my husband crazy. I hope it stops for you

I know how you feel, i've suffered from RLS since i was a kid and it definetly flares up when i'm pregnant, and stressed, like with wd's. Hot baths before bed, go for a short walk an hour before bed, and sometimes i put a heating pad underneath my legs too at night, keep it on low if you fall asleep though! I hope it goes away for you soon.

I have had a lot of rls since I have been off opiates almost 2 months and I swear by the heating pad, I use 2 of them one on thighs and one on lower legs, I love it!!!! Every night it still starts around 11:00 and I keep them by my recliner and then off to bed with them I go!!!! It has worked wonders for me!!!

A lot of members here swear by a product called Hylands Restful Legs - I never used it, but I've read that many get great relief from it.  I would eat bananas and the potassium helped my rls so much.  And I also used a heating pad and that would help a lot as well (thanks Mag - SO GREAT to see you!  I wanted to send you a message here but I wasn't sure if you were okay with that?)

Sorry richjess for the quick interruption there!  And I also used the heating pad initially for my pain and didn't realize but it was also helping with the rls too.

But it did get better with time - probably around 2 months I noticed that it wasn't happening anymore.  Good luck to you - I'm sure it will get better for you soon!
