Ritalin post withdrawal????

by xru11, Oct 10, 2008 11:23AM
Let's say you've just gone through 8 days of withdrwing from Subutex which you got on to get off pain meds.  And let's say that for the most part you can now manage.  Except that you can't seem to focus and have to struggle to get the motivation to do anything and you are in a constant state of lethargy.  Moreover you have a dull-not-quite-pain-or-ache but something akin to the effect of anxiety in your stomach area.  Does anybody think that something like ritalin might help or hurt?

Hi Xru----  I don't know about Ritalin but I did find something that works well for many.  It is Provigil --- The way it works is to help with Dopamine receptors in the brain and increase their ability to use Dopamine --- a vital neurotransmitter similar to Serotonin.   It gives a 'non caffeine' boost that seems to help.  You will need a prescription to get it in the U.S. but it is also available on the internet.  All other countries sell it over the counter with no script.   You can take up to 500 mg a day and the tablets come in 100 and 200 mg sizes.  I had no trouble getting my doctor to prescribe it -- since it is not addictive or harmful.   I should have thought to post that but just forgot about it.  All the best.
