Robitussin Effects

Hello i've been taking Robitussin Maximum Strength Cough & Cold for a while now.  About 3 months ago I stopped taking it for a month...After that I got hit with this dizzy feeling and a pain in the back of my head.  So i went to the walk-in and the doctor said that he thought I had Labrynthitus, and he gave me Prometh to take for it.  Well, i took the medication and it started to go away, but never fully did.  So after my medication ran out I figured I'd let it go away over time and it kinda did, only hitting me once a week.  So i figured it was just an ear infection and not the Robitussin.  I just took another bottle of it a couple days ago and the feeling starting to come back.  I have pressure on the sides of my head and this morning i had a sharp pain im my left ear somewhere.  I was just wondering if this stuff is doing any permanent damage to my ears at all.  Or if is doing any damage to anything.  I dont drink alcohol when i do it (tho there's alcohol in it) and i dont do it with anything else.  When i do it I drink one bottle.  I've done it about.....I dunno 12 or 14 times?  I thought it was safe to do again but I guess not.  If you tell me that its doing any permanent damage, im never going to touch the **** again.  Thanks for listening @:).

JB is right as usual.  I love your directnes JB - I seem to be very full of myself tonight as I am posting like crazy. Anyway, Robitussin is a weird mixture of many medications and not to be messed with.  Drink a lot of water and juice and get that **** out of your system.  You'll feel much better and be much safer. I also agree that hearing "I just took another bottle a couple days ago" sounds like trouble.  Many of us are in daily agony from our addictions and I hope you will do at least me a favor and learn from us - medicine is for when your sick and should be taken only as directed and then stopped.  The best way to avoid getting addicted to drugs is to not use drugs and if you must due to illness give them the cautous respect they deserve.  Good luck, Telby

Don't touch it again. Use only as directed as the label says. Alas, you may be an addictive personality.  How old are you? I was just eighteen when I discovered  that I was addicted to a drug that I knew nothing about. I was wounded in Viet Nam and was given morphine for pain from shrapnel and flash burns. Needless to say,that is why I am here today on this forum.

robitussin and alcohol mixed messed my life up. I basically had the same problems you have, with my ears and stuff. the best thing to do is go to the ear docter! their professionals they can help! they helped me sooo much! but they put me on diffrent medication and i got addicted to that too! so i had to go into rehab. i was in rehab for four long painful years! i hope you dont have to go through the same thing as i did. but the solution is to go to the ear doctor!!in conclusion life is short so have fun but be careful!

Hi All, Happy new year. I have a question for anyone out there. I have been through detox along with my boyfriend this past year. I  have been taking Revia which has helped. He has been clean and we have been going to AA & NA almost every daY. Yesterday and the day before he came down with diarreha and too Imotil and some zanax. Only .05 zanax. He looked like he was using all over again. Funny speach, pinned eyes, and nodding. am i being stupid wanting to believe him. I just can't imagine Imotil and zanax making you nod and have pinned eyes but he swears that is all that is in his system. Please don't think bad of me. I just want us both to be clean this year. Thanks

i would have to believe that he is using, PLEASE, if he is, DO NOT let this effect your progress, you have worked TOO DAMN HARD!!!!! stay positive and keep it up, YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!
