Roxy Detox

Roxy Detox

I have been taking Roxies for many months now and have decided that I'm done. I have had enough and I am going to do it cold turkey. I have been doing anywhere from 3-8 30mg pills a day. Mostly sniffing them. I am not worried about the mental side of it because I am truly ready to get passed it and I am very strong willed. I am curious about how long the withdrawal is going to last. Particularly the heavy duty symptoms. I know I am going to feel like crap for a while but that I can deal with on a daily basis and cope with it. I am, however, worried about the immediate, bad withdrawal symptoms that I will go through. I have been reading every post I could find and there seems to be a a wide variety of experiences for people. I have been reading in some cases that it will mostly be over in a few days and some say it takes weeks of being very sick. I find it hard to believe that I will feel that badly for such an extended amount of time. I mean heroine withdrawal only lasts a few days from what I understand so how could it be that it will be that long to get over some oxy? Today is Tues and my plan is to stop taking them tomorrow (Wed). I have off from work from Friday to Monday and will have to be there Tues morning. I am hoping the symptoms will start kicking in Thurs night and that will give me almost 5 days to get through it. I have basically stopped taking them a few times and felt the symptoms after about 24 hrs. The first day was pretty bad but I know I can deal with it. I got cold feet and went back to taking them due to having to go to work. Can anyone let me know if 4 or 5 days will be enough to get passed the worst of it? I will check in and post my progress and will hopefully be of some help to people doing this in the future. Any input and /or suggestions are welcome. Thanks and wish me luck.

Sorry, you post seems to have been overlooked.  I am glad you have made the step to quit.  Here is a post I share, I hope it helps. Good luck.

I kept telling myself...YOU HAVE the FLU!  It will be over and I will feel so much better.  My brain seemed to get that and settled down a little.  It is hard, but doable!  The Thomas Recipe (bottom of the page under Health Pages)..  I did not to the tranquilizers and had to cut back on the Ltryosine, but the rest really helped.  Imodium (immodium), Imodium (immodium), Imodium (immodium) (liquid or pills if the liquid can't be found or you can't swallow it) will help.  I took double the dosage for a few days (personal choice) and it helped so much..even with the withdrawals in general and the opiate trots which sucked.

Hydrate and eat!  Even if it is just a little every hour or so.  You have to eat something to keep your energy up as much as possible.

If you have Restless legs..it is hit or miss what works.  Walking seemed to help me some.  Hot bath with epsom salts..a little.  I finally had to get my doctor to refill my restless legs meds (non addictive) to get some sleep.  If nothing works, your doctor might help.

One hour at a time is all anyone can ask.  After 2 weeks it gets a little better and I started to say, One day at a time!  Your brain will do all sorts of things to get you to take a pill.  I found if I was hungry..the cravings got worse.  I would try to eat a banana, a few grapes or a few crackers to get that under control.

Good for you.  I hope all goes well.  You have made a good start coming here....this site has helped me so much!!!  Keep posting!!!!!

Also, have you considered going to your doctor to get help?  There are a few non-addictive meds with can help.

Most people are over the worst of it after 5 days.  Your range of use 3 - 8 pills is quite a range.  How many pills per day have you been taking most recently?  You said you have been taking them for many months - how long is that?

Littlebit gave you good advice.  Also you may want to call your doctor and ask for Clonidine - it helps with opiate withdrawals.  Keep posting and as different symptoms come up we can all offer you specific advise as you go along.  Good luck.  I hope it goes well for you.
