SAM-e interactions?

by suzipen, Nov 22, 2008 05:56PM
Could anyone tell me if there any problems with taking Sam-e and zoloft? I want to get off zoloft too, but want to wait until I have been off tram longer. (Been on zoloft 7 years) I take a  low dose of zoloft- 50 mgs. 1x day.
I have read a few long articles on SAM-e, but they just say to check with your dr. I dont want to do that cause he isnt gonna know. He may pretend to, but he is not going to really know.   i am on day 3 of w/d from tram and i desperately need something for my horrible mood swings and depression.
thanx

You can only take one .Are you all of the way off of the tram .You do not want to risk
suffering from serotonin syndrome. All three of theses drugs could raise your levels .SS can be fatal for some people .so plz do take more then one at a time either stay on the zoloft or go off it an take the SAM E. If you are still taking tram you should wait until you are all of the way off.

I am off of tram, but only 3 days.
I am soooooooo afraid to go off zoloft because i also suffer from panic disorder, and that has helped keep it under control. so, i cant take sam-e while i am still on zoloft?
guess i just want u to say yes..........zoloft doesnt help me with depression at all. it is more for panic attacks. any other suggestions?   thanks for replying

I would workon finding an AD that works with both your depression and your panic disorder .no do not take the two together
