SLEEP

by Brian4040, May 24, 2007 12:00AM
I feel like i am going insane!  I am on hour 131.  I really didnt have much withdrawal at all.  Felt like mild mild flu for 2 days.  I was taking 4 per 10s a day for a little over a month.  Anyway, like i said, i stopped taking them on friday, this is day 6.  The last 5 nights, i have BARELY slept?  Could this be the lack of pills causing this?  Ive also been under a lot of stress but ive NEVER gone 5 days in a rown struggling to sleep.  Ive tried a few beers, i woke up 3 1/2 hours later.  Ive tried tylenol pm, i toss n turn for 3-4 hours and then WIDE AWAKE.  Before, i used to sleep well, its not a life long thing.  Anyway, i should note again, ive been under a lot of stress and people keep telling me its stress.  I exercise and stay busy physically, still doesnt help!  It couldnt be the lack of pills causing insomnia when i had very little withdrawals other than that, could it?  All i know is i feel like im going CRAZY and need 8 straight interrupted hours of sleep!  Please advise.  Thanks.

sorry to hear that..I have always had insomnia...Even before i started taking pills. i have taken ambiem, lunesta, sonata...These are all prescribed..Anything over the counter gave me RLS which i have bad already..i find all three work well ..The least addicting one is lunesta, but taste like ****..I would not take them every nite...But i think your body needs somethig right now..My doctor always told me your body needs to sleep..Just my opinion..hopes this helps you some..SO glad your w/d's are not bad..Some of us are not that lucky..GOD BLESS!!

Lunesta? its over the counter?  How does it differ from tylenol pm?  I can get it at walgreens?  Thanks for you help.

Oh i re-red, theyre prescribed.  WEll i cant go to the doc because im in between jobs, dont have insurance, and really cant afford to go to a doc.  This is driving me crazy.  Other than that, yeah, i really didnt have much withdrawals.

no lunesta is also presribed but doctors ( well mine) says it is not a narcotic or addicting, so he actually just called it in for me..Maybe you can call and tell him how bad it is and that you are going to keep your appointment but if he could call you some in.
IT is a terrible feeling with no sleep, been there!!
good luck

It can last up to months for some people...Not straight no sleep though..You eventually do sleep...............Alot of people use sleep aides, pot, or Valruim Root...the list goes on.................to help with sleep...

Its going to have to be a personal choice on what you want to do..to get to sleep..................
GOod luck...Glad your feeling pretty good, besides lack of sleep......be causious of your thinking...............I know when Im on lack of sleep , I dont make alot of sound choices..........So sleep is very important...Anyway you can talk to your doctor about it? or someone?

Best of luck to you!
Happy thoughts and Prayers!!

Yes, stopping your percocet can most definitely cause you to lose sleep. Not sure why, but anytime I quit and go through withdrawals, I can't sleep much either. Usually only takes me a week or so to start getting a good nights sleep again. Stress could definitely be adding to your problem, but it's not unusual at all to have problems sleeping after quitting. I'm sure there is some medical reason, plus you probably slept very well, and then some, while taking your percs, so now your body is very rested.

Good luck!

Lack of sleep was probably my BIGGEST w/d problem ... when I went c/t I didn't sleep at all (except maybe 10 minute naps here and there) for 8 DAYS (I actually began dreading nighttime). I finally began to get 20-30-minute sleep periods until finally at day 14 I was able to stay in bed all night (didn't sleep all night). I'm on day 36 and get 6 to maybe 7 hours of sleep a night now. It's weird ... I will usually fall right to sleep, have a dream, wake about 1 1/2 hours later and toss/turn for an hour or so, then back to sleep until morning. AND I have never been a morning person, but I hit 7 am now and am ready to get up. If you knew me before, you would know what a big deal that is for me.

BTW - I c/t off of 5-6 10/300 vikes every evening (and started taking Ambien the last 3 weeks). Didn't take anything except motrin during w/d ... only thing I take now is melatonin (which doesn't really make me sleepy, but actually calsm me down some almost like a valium).

Good luck ... sleep will come, just be patient (easy to say).
