STOMACH BLOATING

I keep forgetting another question I have been wanting to ask everytime I post.
I noticed that my stomach has gotten just HUGE, and others have noticed. I gained alot of weight since my back surgery. However, I am wondering if the stomach thing isn't more from the hydros.??

Anyone have any input on this?
Thanks in advance!

I read somewhere (sorry I don't have the reference) that when taking opiates, you build up extra waste in your intestines and it causing bloating.  I don't know how true it is. Stomach bloating is also a common symptom with constipation which we all know is common when using pain meds.

If you are seeing actual instestinal distention (stomach is swollen and hard) get yourself to the dr. immediately.

When I was going through the worst of the withdrawl...my tummy was discended....

I was so used to the Vics it didn't cause constipaption for me...I was pretty normal in that arena.

While going through w/d symptoms of course I was intimate withe the bathroom facilities for a few days... my tummy was swollen, but not hard.. it's much better and flatter now.   When I do something I really am good at it... withdrawal was no exception.

Now I'm just anxious to go to my "confession" w/my Doc tomorrow, somehow this will not only be cathartic for me but I'm hoping I can get out of this Xanax mess w/o ever going through another yesterday.

To VicAddict:   If you have started with the runs and are starting to w/draw... it may very well be that those intestines of yours are waking up... bloating down there may become problematic.

Is there anything I can say to you to convince you to go to the Drs? To get some help...!

I am no professional, but seems to me you should come clean with your doctor if your are truly serious, how will you get help if you don't?  Not telling to me is like always having the chance to get more.  Tell him/or her and maybe they can find an alternative for you.  I think your fooling yourself somewhat and need to decide if you truly want to quit, if you do, be honest about all of it.  Good luck.

I really do want to call my dr. But I am afriad he will just close the door on me. I am afriad I may worsen my situation. He is a great Dr. And when prescribing these hydro to me he said he did not want me on them long term..however the pain wouldn't go away..so it just went on and on, and then I needed more in a day etc. Although I have never asked for any early refills,a nd never asked for an increase..I still am afraid to tell him, although I feel a need to.

Make any sense? I want to tell him and tell him I have a problem is there anything you can do to help me fix this...in the worst way I want to. But so many say not to tell your Dr..not to jump the gun...I am confused.

I do not have the runs as of yet...also like you constipation has never been an issue for me. But my stomach has gotten huge over the past year.

Do you think my Dr. will help me through this, or just toss me aside as someone who should have known better, should have saw the signs, and should be able to do it on my own.
That is what I am afriad of. Not to mention how ashamed I am.
Thanks you again gip

Maybe I just feel this way because it worked for me - but can you go to the Emergency Room?  They really will help you.  The dr. I saw in the ER said if I was nervous about everything going back to my doctor I didn't have to give him the prescribing doc's name.  He saw me in pain and wanted to help me.  That is what hospitals are for.  You wouldn't have to be in patient or anything.  Just go in the the ER, ask to see a doc and tell them you are in opiate withdrawal.  It's at least worth a try and is better than going thru hell.  Please, go to a doc of some kind.  They really can help.

What is it they did for you? If you dont mind. I am not actually in full w/d yet. Like I said I took the one this morning. But it is coming. And I have decided no more, I am not touching those last couple I have left.

But I am curious as to what the ER doc did for you. Did he give you something, point you elsewhere? Just wondering what it was they offered that helped.
Thank you hun.

I am going to try and lay down for a little while here before the kids get home. For some reason I have a bad headache, and feel really tired and icky. Maybe I have stressed myself out now. I am scared I know that much. Both of what damage I may have done this far with what I have taken, and also what it is going to be like without taking them.
I will be reading and responding though after a bit. Just gonna lay down for a short while with ice pack on my head.

Thank you again ALL of you for your suggestions, and for being here! you all are helping tremendously.

I truly don't know where you are with this.  Meaning, withdrawal, I have no way of knowing what symptoms you WILL go through.   I know those #'s you've been thowing out here 3 - 4 pills at a time are a bit scary but who am I to say.

@ 12 hours after my full last dose, I was dripping wet, shaking, freezing and the list goes on.  With that being said, we are all different.

Not to repeat myself, but going through withdrawal 'til your script comes on Wed., is kinda going thru hell and yer right back where you started from.

Seeing what I did to myself w/the Xanax...thinking I could stop them as well C/T... not realizing how dangerous that was...and thinking I wasn't doing enough for it to be that bad...I can't wait now to get to the DR.

On the other hand, going to the DR. is Def a committment.  You are going to need something (anything) to help you with withdrawl if you go C/T ... and that's where you are...even if you take those last three pills.. so what?  Unless you get to the street pharmacy... but hey...the decision is up to you.

If your Dr. is available..make the appointment.  If you are serious about stopping.   Once you go to him, and fess up he'll probably be more stringent with your Rx...

Honey... not for nuffin... you have to DECIDE what it is you want.  Sounds as though you are doing a lot of rationalizing.  I fully understand your plight... I hope you can make a decision for yourself that you can live with.

I went to the ER about 5 hours after full withdrawal started.  The doc first talked to me, and was quite comforting.  They then gave me a shot of ativan and a prescription for Clonidine.  Clonidine is a blood pressure medication and it helps with the withdrawal symptoms by lowering your blood pressure; it also attaches to the opiate receptors so it "tricks" your body into thinking it is still taking opiates.  Clonidine is available in patch form (which they leave on for 7 days) or pill form.  I chose pill form and was prescribed .2 mg every 12 hours for two days and then the next two days I cut the pills in half and took .1 mg every 12 hours.  My symptoms were minimal compared to those of others on the board.  The worst part for me was the total exhaustion and lack of sleep.  PLEASE, PLEASE go talk to a doc.  You seem to be struggling, Let them help you.
