SUBOXONE SCOOP

I start taking Tylenol 3 or 4 or Hydrocodone 11 months ago...I remember it all too well.  I knew that it would lead to today.  I have been in recovery for 16 years for alcoholism/drugs and my disease took over.  Anyway here I am a year later and I can't stop.  I can with only taking 1 or 2 pills a day...but I can't stop that 1.  I tried cold turkey and I guess because I know all too well what withdrawling feels like I don't let myself get too uncomfortable.

I want some advise.  Is suboxone the route I should take?  If so how do you go about it?  Does anyone know a Dr in Toms River, NJ or surrounding area?  I need to stop and I am really am afraid

hey there. im extremely familiar with suboone as it saved my life. however. yes there is a however... i do not believe sub should really be used for less powerful opiates... dont get me wrong by NO means am i saying it will be easy but i think if you were to take sub it would be worse for you as it is am extremely powerfl opiate. i think sub or methadone should be last resort option like you will die and its your last chance at life. now this is only my opinion. but i do feel as though this is not a good choice. like i said thats only my opinion. since you had already managed to clean yourself up before, i think the wd will be uncomfortable, but manageable. maybe you could do an extremely short stint on sub treatment just through the 7 days of physical wd. but sub is expensive (typically about 5-8 dollars a piece), not many insurances cover it, and it is very powerful much more so than tylenol 3 or hydrocodone. ultimately the decision is yours. just please read some of the suboxone posts here and do A LOT of research first.... good luck and please dont take my words the wrong way- i know how difficult this is and by no means am i  saying otherwise or insuting.... good luck and i hope you look into other routes.

I have to agree with worried - your dose isnt all that high and codeine is even a weak opiate ...... a year history of hydro and codeine should be doable. Many here have just cold turkey'd much higher and longer historical doses.  Not to minimize your situation ....  any addiction is rough ..... there are no magic solutions.... neither sub nor methadone is an easy out..... If you have been around some form of recovery or addiction for so many years you know the procedure..........  Time to get strong and stay strong ....  You can lick this enemy - -   Keep posting for advice, for suggestions, or just to vent. Lots of people with plenty of experience and they will share with you .... it isnt easy but you can make it more comfortable with a few measures ......  good luck to you ..

at ur dose..10 mgs of hydro a day...is that it?  I owuld think it would be a crime for a doctor to give u sub...even 20 mgs a day...why do u think a strong narcotic like suboxone is going to get u clean from  1 pill of hydro a day?  sub cant get u clean//only u can...it can help with wd for heavy users/give them some time to work a program while they r on the sub...but wds from 10 mg of hydro would be negiligible to say the least...it is a a habit i know like any habit is and hard to stop..but switching to a stronger narcotic is not the answer...do u still go to meetings? that will help more than sub for ur dose of hydro..we r all different but have u tried stopping the 1 pill for a few days?  having them in the house makes it difficult to stop them...gotta let em go...but the time will come that u will have to let the sub go as well..expensive and will cost/as a rule/600 bux or plus tog et started on the sub..then a monthly fee therafter....and i may have misunderstood...but u can get by with 1 hydro a day>   if it were me/and it is not as it is u/i would stay on 1 hydro a day before i went on sub...heavy duty stuff and 2 mgs would probably knock ur socks off...be safe..work the program....no pills or refills when u r done..and when u r done then u r done..pick a  quit day..make a plan....u can do this...there r no easy ways out and sub can not MAKE u clean..only u can

The suboxone road can be bumpy and is not for everyone. I was addicted to norco for about 5 years. I took about 40 a day (10-325). I tried so many times to stop without succuess. So after doing my research and weighing the pros and cons, I went the suboxone route. For me, it was the right decision. I have been on it for several months and am slowly weaning myself off successfully. Suboxone has given me the time to get healthy physically and mentally so that I am a stronger person when I completely wean off of it. But this is just me. I think that suboxone should be a last resort after other methods have failed. Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Aaaah DSL- same situation only I was on oxys- not for pain but for fun. I took the suboxen route but after doing some research I think I regret taking this route. There is a lot of info on the internet out there- read up on it, call your insurance company to find a suboxone clinic in your area that is covered by your insurance- talk to the doctors.

Just know that the subs will get you off the hydrocodone- but then you will be hooked on the subs! That's why I felt worse- I am going to NA meetings and although I am off the pain pills I still didn't feel like I was drug free- and I wanted to be! (from subs and all)

Be strong- take the time to do some research- wish I did it before taking the subs- not now that I am withdrawing on them!!! (I am on day 3)- some people have been on the subs for years and swear by them... so do the research
( a part of me wonders if tapering off the oxys would have been better)
Just know that wanting to stop your addiction is awesome- Good luck to you and keep me posted...
