Scared to quit Oxy

I'm 18 and have been using oxy for 3 years. I take at least 100 mg a day. My mom's perscription is how I got started. She takes half of what she's prescribed (her choice not because I take them) so she's always had extra. Now, she's running out and can no longer feed my addiction. She wants to gradually take me off of them. She has started that today, by giving me half of my normal dosage. I feel very anxious and I'm extremely scared. I want to quit so bad, but I don't feel I have the willpower. It's very easy for me to manipulate my mom, so it's like if she doesn't have the willpower to keep me to this, I know it won't happen. I know that quitting this while I'm still young is going to save me, but I'm terrified to do it.

I am a recovering addict. You need to go to a detox facility. Will power has nothing to do with it, we have a brain disease! If you try on your own there is a 97% chance you will fail. There is help if you are willing to ask,you can take something for withdrawals while in a detox place. Trust me it works I am a raging drug addict please give it a shot

I agree with Eagle that a 50% reduction is a lot!!  I had always heard to reduce by 10% and listen to your body as you go.  Tapering can be very difficult; I've done a long taper to get off a lot of things and going in and out of withdrawal can be very frustrating.  (And I can't CT due to underlying health issues.)  Check out the Thomas Recipe and/or the Amino Acid Protocol.  It will give you other things you can do to ease symptoms.  I've never tried theanine but I have used Valerian Root for anxiety and I think it works much better than Ativan!  Melatonin or Alteril, both all-natural, help tremendously with sleep and they're non-addictive.  And maybe you and your mom can sit down and figure out a good taper, though if you're going to manipulate her, then I'm not sure how successful it will be.  Getting a program in place, like NA/AA would be a great help and if you're mom could go to Al-Anon alongside you, it would likely be a big help to both of you.  Best of luck!

That a fully normal reaction. The withdrawing is new and unknown to you. And most of us are a little leery of the unknown. Pretty easy to develop anxiety over it. But you know that you gotta do it sometime. You might mention to Mom that a 50% reduction is a heck of a jump all at once. It wont make any difference if you arent successful. Most advice is to taper about 15% every few days. You are too young to think about riding this merry go round forever. One of our memebrs is named CATUF - - cant afford to use forever. And I always liked that! You should look at the amino acid protocols listed in the Health Pages here at MedHelp - access at lower right hand side of screen under Health Pages. Theanine is like natures valium and will help with the anxiety. And there are a few others that help a good bit. Maybe read The Thomas Recipe also - its more for cold turkey - but there are ideas there that may help you out. Learn as much as you can about this stuff. Read other posts and look through the health pages for ideas.........You can do this with your moms help - -  It is time for you to make this happen.
