Side effects of Adderall(adderrall)

by penelope, Sep 03, 1999 12:00AM
I have been taking Adderall (adderrall) for ADHD almost 4 years. I take more miligrams than people twice my size. At first I only took 20mgs a day. Now my doctor prescribes me 40mgs a day before noon. And sometimes in order to concentrate and stay focused I need more. I guess I'm wondering if its just going to keep getting worse until I'm taking a bottle a day. I don't want to become addicted but I'm scared that is what's happening.  Plus I wanted to know the long/short term side effects of Adderall (adderrall).  Thanks.

Ive been on ADD meds since I was 6years old. Im 20 years old now & Im currently on 40mgs/day (two doses of 20mgs) Ive tried other ADD meds but their side effects were worse. Are you on Extended Release? If not you should switch to it, but if so then you may want to either try another ADD/ADHD drug, or take the second pill at 2pm. You shouldnt take more than is prescribed because that can lead to addiction.

Possible Side effects...It can cause high blood pressure & dangerously fast heart rate, anxiety, Depression, Weight loss, suicial thoughts, ticks, insomnia, mood swings, possible addiction, possible heart attack, diarrhea, dry mouth, stomache ache, dizzyness, head ache, change in sex drive, euphoria.
