Sleep

Sleep

This might seem strange to some of you, but I was wondering if anyone else felt that taking hydrocodone/vicodin or any pain pill was the cause of a sleeping disorder. For the past year and a half, I have not slept on my own. Prior to being addicted to hydrocodone, I slept just fine. I did not feel anxious or upset all the time. Since becoming addicted, I have not been able to sleep. The ambien helps a lot, but the lack of sleep is a huge motivator in wanting to quit. I really want my normal sleep paterns to come back. As it is now, sleep does not come naturally with the pills and certainly not without. My legs go crazy without. Generally, even taking the pills, I wake up at about 3, and as most of the meds have left my body, I am aching for them. Sometimes, I have to take one just to get back to sleep. I know from reading on here that sleep is the last thing to come back, but I wanted to know if anyone else has had the same thing happen. Get addicted and then you can't sleep. It seems like most people say they were sleeping with the pills, but had problems during detox. Is it possible that the pills could have actually been messing with my sleep while I was on them?

Your body got used to having the drugs in your system to sleep now you have stopped your body has to learn how to fall asleep all on its own again and that is going to take time .I would try some exersise everyday it helps your body adust back faster ..Taking sleep aids is just going to prolong the time it takes ...Melatonin helps your body adjust if you want to try that .
What recovery care have you set up so you can stay clean ?

I am going to try NA. I have a friend who is going to go with me the first couple if times until I feel OK about going by myself. I do not really know any other options. I have been taking anywhere from 8-10 norco a day. That is 10/325. I feel like they make me hyper and energetic. Quit date is Thursday. CT.

I always stayed up super late when I was taking the pills.  I would work until 2am and then watch tv but then feel ****** in the morning until i took some.  I am on day 7 and i definitely don't have a good sleep pattern back but hopefully in time.  Before the pills I was someone who could sleep anywhere/anytime...I actually had a gift for sleep but no more.

Yeah, me too. I could sleep all the time, then no more for me either unless I took something to help me. I don't want that anymore. I want my gift for sleep back.

I've always had trouble sleeping.  Not having the drugs make it even harder.  I've had restless legs syndrome since I was 16.  Nothing helps is but lortab.  That's how I got hooked on this crap.  I've tried everything to no avail.  I'm one day 2 with nothing and I'm just wondering when it will get better???
